I remember the last stages of the war when I took part harvesting wild Milkweed pods... the contents of the pods were used for fill in life preservers.. Also I remember the drives for scrap iron and other metals..
I still have one of the remaining ration stamp book that were government issued to all families (not much left in the ration book) Also watching planes that flew by from Offut AFB near Omaha...
Those were the days, my friend, those were the days....
