Sekhmet watched them carefully with curiosity laced she knew she could take them to the rest of the meal but the elements were harsh; her limbs growing fatigued and-and wished to rest before venturing out. A den would call to her and yet she knew all three of them couldn’t sleep and gain strength in a den as small as this one. Quickly she was taken from her ideas of a nap as Zeru sprung forward and grabbed at the meat, stealing in into the den quickly. Had Thoth not been faster she likely would have snatched the pup by the scruff and forced him into they icy snow. She cared as a guardian would, yet she didn’t stand for a challenge.
Thoth tackled the pup harshly and yet she knew it was the way of the world and yet it didn’t let her deep snarl resounded and travel around them. She wanted to intervene but would resist as she watched the two cramped bodies scuffle and snarl throughout the den. It was when she heard Zeru’s whimper her ear flickered backward and forwards. Her mind sought to extinguish weakness but wanted to protect him just the same. She issued a low throaty growl as Thoth carried out the limb victoriously, she contemplated scolding them both and withholding food, but as cruel as she was to others she didn’t look forward to seeing her own possessions starved. Despite the scolding she wished to give them, no matter their instinct, she didn’t need to tend to their wounds.
He gazes shifted as he carried away the bone from the child only to return to his aid cleaning its wounds. She growled slightly at Thoth in warning digging for the pound of flesh pulling a slightly larger portion for the pup, yet nowhere near the large portion Thoth still had left over. Almost out of instinct she takes the extra and carries it to him as a mother would seek to feed children. She wasn’t aware of why she simply obeyed the calling of her mind, but before she allowed him this gesture but not before she pressed her paw in it and snarled. Her hackles rose and tail stood over her back. It was a warning for him to disobey and act foolishly again she would demand Thoth to allow her to reprimand the boy as she saw fit, and she would be relentless. He would know his place, and he would not climb above them while she stood guardian. She was a protector but she could nurture when she felt the need.
She lifted her paw and snapped out at the pups face, only allowing her teeth to clack before his eyes. She turned her back to the boy without fear, he was wise enough to know better than turn his teeth on her Thoth she couldn’t say the same for and yet she didn’t fear him. She sighed, her breathing so visible in the cold of the bitter winter. The pup had his place in the den but Thoth laid in the ice and snow. A deep growl rumbled in her throat as she looked over her companion for wounds of his own. She laid at his side uninterested in his flesh only offering her warmth turning her gaze away from them both lost in thought. Wondering what she would do as winter was bound to grow more relentless.
The season was hard on her for hunting and she wasn’t certain she could continue it alone. The pronghorn could be hidden away if no other beast had found it and last for a short time at least. Perhaps even nature would provide her with more gifts but she was not a wolf of optimism. “Huntings. Ice. Less Food.” She sighs her head on her paws seeking the warmth of her companion as much as she offered her own.
