The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

She had always wanted to come to Abendrot to live and work and thrive and serve under the great Ice King, the great Kershov. Even now, with Kershov gone and Grey Wind ruling in his stead, Halina did not for one moment regret her decision to move to this land. At first, she may have resented the brute, but he had been highly trusted by Kershov and thus she had no reason not to trust him. And, although Abendrot had been quiet, Grey Wind had been a good leader so far. He was the type of wolf that belonged in Abendrot, that epitomized the characteristics that would thrive in the pack. He was strong, independent, ruthless, and yet smart. If Halina’s life involved her and only her, she would stay. Hell, she would be constantly pushing Grey to expand and doing bigger and better things. Perchance that she would become his competition for the throne in order to keep him on his toes – never would she go as far as to mutiny completely, but threaten it enough for him to keep his instincts sharp. But her life was bigger than it once had been. She had a protιgι now – Lupin – and had adopted Ambrosia as her daughter. While neither relied on her, for they were independent, she was still responsible for them. But even more than that, Halina belonged to Ygritte and Ygritte to Halina. The two were inseparable, made as they were from the same thread. In each aspect they matched one another, wit for wit, strength for strength, speed for speed, desire for desire.

Most relationships were different from theirs. It usually is said that in any relationship, there is one person who cares more than the other, in varying degrees of ratios. All too often, that was how dangerous relationships developed, because the one who cared less had to give less to the relationship, or could get away with more before reaching the breaking point of the other. This inequality often was what destroyed relationships, but among the two warrioresses, there was none. They viewed each other as equals in all aspects of their lives, save one. In their relationship, neither was the dominant one; instead they discussed everything and came to agreements based on logic. In their workload, each was equally responsible, especially as they did everything together. The only aspect of inequality that could be found as Halina’s rank in the pack, but this had no bearing on their relationship, as Ygritte did not entirely believe in the hierarchy of packs anyway. And so they were equals, their caring ratio set firmly at 50:50.

Perhaps that was why it had taken so long to get to this point, to reach a decision on one thing. Ygritte had joined Abendrot to be with Halina, but never had they been truly happy. And so, they had, from time to time, spent extended periods of time away from Abendrot, to sate Ygritte’s desire for freedom. Neither had pushed the issue, for both vargs wanted the other to be happy. Halina desired the pack life for it was how she had been brought up and loved owning the rank of Beta, but knew that it went against the very soul of Ygritte. Ygritte, for her part, did not entirely hate being in the pack as it had not required her to change anything, and yet there was always that lingering feeling that her soul was caged by pack life, for she now belonged to it, her loyalty claimed. And yet the Wildling had stayed in order to stay with Halina.

Why the change now, neither could say, but it was time. And now, now it was up to Halina to discuss the issue with the Alpha. And so Halina had stalked the King, following his trail until she came upon him. “Grey Wind.” It was spoken as a statement – not a question to ask whether or not she was allowed in his presence, nor hesitant in case he was busy. Instead, she strode up to him firmly and planted herself in his way, a playful smirk upon her faηade. “There is something I am going to discuss with you now. The matter of my residency here. As you know Ygritte and I have been taking increasingly longer vacations from these parts and the time has come for our absence to become permanent, or at least as permanent as anything is for the pair of us. She has seen how I live and now it is time for me to see how she lives. In order for us to do that, we must travel far to her people who belong to no one and nowhere. Always will I be loyal to Abendrot and will fight for it, though.” She paused, giving him a moment to take in everything she had said. “That being said, there are conditions of my departure. I will stay until you figure out whatever is going on with your… little pet of yours. I will serve as your counsel in terms of Macaria whether or not your ask for it, and furthermore I will take it upon myself to train her in warfare. Though she is… improved, shall we say?... as an Abendrotan she cannot be allowed to remain untrained as she currently is. When I am content with her progress, I will tell her how to reach me in case you have need of my skills.” Macaria may be more willing to fight and may have lost her ability to feel pain, but that would not prevent her from being killed by another. Abendrot was small for now – it could not afford to lose any of its assets, especially when Halina and Ygritte would still be leaving. “We have not decided our exact departure date but will of course keep you appraised of such. Now… tell me what exactly you did to fuck up your relationship with Macaria?” The cruel femme’s smirk only deepened as she poked and prodded at subjects that she had no right to invade, and so she kept herself well-balanced in case he should decide to punish her with an attack.
