aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Seraphina, like Vladimir, had no desire to continue to be underground. She just wanted to be, to be warm – how odd it was, for them to want to be out underneath the scalding heat of the summer sun. But down here there was no warmth. It wasn’t cold, either, but it was musty and damp and unpleasant, especially when they weren’t sure that they could get out. And so Vladimir had worked tirelessly to dig their way out. By the end of it, his paws were battered and bruised, and perhaps the pads were torn apart and bleeding, but Vladimir didn’t care. All he wanted was to find a way out of the cave for the two of them and to save Seraphina. To be a hero in her eyes. As he scraped through the last few inches, he found that in the last few moments, he had a burst of energy. The heat of the sun on his fur was immediately, and it felt comfortable, it felt safe. Squirming through, he had started laughing, and then called back to Seraphina. She, too, managed to fit through the whole that he had dug out and when she escaped, she had shook her coat out, and Vladimir had subsequently followed suit, causing him to laugh even harder at bits of dark soil and grit filled the air around them. Sera joked and laughed about how Castiel would be jealous of the ownership of the cavern and Vladimir shook his head. “Castiel isn’t the jealous type, but now that we know the way we could give him a good scare! That way we could all experience it together.” She then went on to jest about his dirtiness and Vladimir scoffed. “You should see yourself, Sera! You may not be dirtier than I am, but you look dirtier than I am with all that white!” Leaping at her, he rubbed against her, smearing the clumps of dirt on her pelt into long streaks. But their playing and fun was cut short by the sudden onset of voices… onces that Vladimir did not recognize.

Seraphina, darling, is that you? Darling, look at you! I thought I raised you better. And on such an important day too.Well, it can’t be helped now. I’ll come up with an explanation, don’t worry.”.’A stranger… no two strangers stood in front of them, and there was no mistaking them – these had to be some of Seraphina’s relatives. They knew her by name, but more so they were her kind. They russet and cream pelts marked them as Ethiopian wolves, and aside from Seraphina and Dante, he had never seen another. Even though he was inclined to think that they were her parents, they were still on Aurora Borealis land. A low growl started, deep in his chest – a not so subtle warning. Slowly, the prince’s hackles raised and he lifted a paw, and then another and moved to position himself in between Sera and her family. An unwavering confidence emanated from him, which came with it a cold stare from his arctics, and the varg rounded his dorsum and curled his plume proudly over it. Never before had he acted like the prince that he was – the royalty that ran in his blood dormant. Sure, he had been cocky and arrogant and overly protective of his packlands and untrusting of strangers, but this was different. For the first time, he had someone to protect, even if she did not necessarily need protecting.

Inside, however, was a different story. Unsurity about what was to be done consumed him, but he held his course until he could think through his thoughts. The first was that he wished his brother was present – Castiel was the reasonable one, the one who was reliable and thoughtful and smart. He would know what to do… for Vladimir had instantly want to attack, to chase the strangers from his land, but he knew two things. The first was that he would not win the fight – he was not full grown and there were two adults facing him. And the second? Was that he couldn’t attack them, not with them being Sera’s relatives and not without his father’s consent. And so he settled on a threat of attack, even if he wouldn’t follow through, and words of caution. “You stand on claimed ground, of the Tyrell clan.” For full effect, his muscles twitched slightly, raising his lips to expose his canines. “You have no right to cross the boundary without permission, even if you do have business within. As my father is the Alpha, I am the heir to the throne, and I command you to exit and wait as is proper at the boundary line. If you refuse, I will have no choice but to force you to.” With everything he had, he held himself back, but his famous rage was pushing through, desiring a fight, wanting to yell and scream and force them out. For he knew if they were here… they were come to take Seraphina away from him. And that was the last thing he wanted. Vladimir paused his growling long enough to send a howl loose, calling to the pack, alerting them to the intruders… but mainly he hoped that someone would come who could deal with this better than he, before he lost his grip on his anger. Before he did something that he would come to regret.
