The sun was beginning to wane to the west, the day's warmth fading, though only slightly. A breeze blew by, rattling the bare branches on the side of Traydon River. Birds nor bugs made a sound, either south for the winter or burrowed deep in the ground. Not a soul could be seen along the bank of the half frozen river, the fish unseen beneath floating sheets of ice. One would think it barren, if not for the young wolf that came barreling from the tree line, her maw open and tongue flopping.

She could be no older than three years old, her form lean and well muscled beneath a chocolate coat. Her dark brown paws slapped the earth and tore up snow behind her, her amber hues lighting in a childlike excitement. Her pelt was an array of brown colors, ranging from so dark it was black to light enough to be cream. Her nose, pink towards the center but black on the outer edges was glistening in the waning sun, and as she skidded to a stop, just before she hit the frozen river, her pink tongue licked it. Ritsuko sat on the bank, her fuzzy chest huffing and puffing. The fey had been chasing a rabbit, though after it was long gone, she decided she'd needed the exercise, and her paws had carried her here, to the river she'd often come to for a quick bite of fish. But the water was cold and for all she knew, the fish were long gone, so she'd spent her days wondering, hoping to see another. It had been a while since she'd met anyone else here. Maybe she'd meet someone today?

Ritsuko swiveled an ear back to listen behind her before she stood up and shook out her chocolatey pelt, eyes scanning the area for another form of life. Was there truly anyone out here with her? One to communicate with the youth?
