A Slim Silver Lining

It was like sunshine formed in a hollow of the rocky area. It wasn’t a natural beach, but it seemed to serve that purpose in this strange bubble. Where there had been lingering nostalgia and laughter, now there was the sunrise of a second piece of one’s soul. Of course it had been there all along like a ray of sunshine now made visible by a different angle. With a feline stretch and wide, blue eyes almost violet in the early light a tatzelwurm stretched in brightly colored contrast to the shoreline, mostly a weary gray with dark, tearing waves.

Mainly a clean, bright white, the wurmling, feline upfront continuing to the sinuous loops of a rather large boa constrictor had points of flame color and longer feathering at cheekbones, elbows and the very end of its tail. Finely built, its head showed triangular features while bodily the wurmling bore the pattern of a sunglow boa in what otherwise might be very fine fur with the texture of a Devon Rex. Underneath, all of this fur faded to smooth, strong scales silky to the touch. Just waking, the tatzelwurm seemed at odds with this world, blinking into the dawn, normally sheathed claws flexing, scrabbling with eerie sound against the stones it had apparently formed near.

Yet this was not what had called into being a tatzelwurm. This place seemed barren of the fairy needed. It could not be home. And Hyacinthe, yes, Hyacinthe, knew there was a home somewhere. Turning this way and that Hyacinthe learned about Shaman at a glance. Not being a new soul it all came readily into a roaring mind. Where was she?

Another stretch and Hyacinthe began to stray from the spot on the shore where a tatzelwurm had been called into being within hearing of the sharp slap of the waves. It wasn’t a birthplace, but finally the second portion of some fairy’s soul made tangible. More than that Hyacinthe wasn’t sure. Although Hyacinthe couldn’t speak for others, it felt certain it would know its other half when they met. However, that fairy must be rather a lost creature, hiding from herself so hard that when her own familiar was called into being they were still separated so clearly. Of course it would be up to the wurmling to sort this out, feline steps mincing forward and nine feet of muscular body to follow.

This watery world presented another problem. A boat might be in order if Hyacinthe could just figure out how one might sail. Ah, this one, it was a more elegant title than it anyway. Of course this one preferred Hyacinthe overall. Perhaps there was room for a little fun along the way, too. After all, this fairy had spent this long hiding from part of herself. There seemed to be a castle off in the distance.
