aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

It was the femme who stepped forward first, in response to his words, his demands. As for Seraphina, she had up til this point remained quiet, saying nothing, explaining nothing, and doing nothing. The prince’s mind whirled and he felt nauseous, trying to sort all of this out – what to do, what to say, what to think… even just about Seraphina. Should he be glad that she was letting him handle the situation (or at least muddle through it the best he could)? Or should he be angry that she did not introduce him, that she was not at his side, just as angry as he was about their intruding? And then again why was she hiding as she was from her relatives? Had they hurt her? Was there something there she had not told him?

'Of course, of course. I know this is an inexcusable offense on our part and truthfully we should know better. The thought of seeing our little Seraphina made us lose our heads for a moment and we apologize, prince. If you would be so kind as to escort us to the border, we would be more than happy to wait for official permission to enter your packlands.' Had he been any other wolf, Vladimir would have accepted that answer happily. But one of his major flaws was that he hardly trusted anyone else at all. And those that he did trust gained it slowly, and only by constantly showing their loyalty. Like Seraphina. Vladimir could hear the control in the femme's voice, dripping thicker than a maple's sap ran from its core. His eyelids narrowed instead, and for a moment his gaze shifted backward, to land on his friend. She had been his enemy once - at least in his mind. But now she was his best friend, and he trusted her with everything. Cocking his head to the side, he raised his brow once and paused, hoping for her to say something, anything. Pleading eyes begged for an explanation, but there was nothing. No words. And so his golden rimmed arctics swirled back forward and the stare that he had inherited from his father fell coldly upon the pair. "Yes. Well then." Vladimir rufffled his pelt as he felt Seraphina move to his side and lean against him gently. The varg nearly snapped at her, not to actually bite at her but to release the frustration he had with the situation.

'I think some proper introductions are in order as well. This is Vladimir, a prince of Aurora Borealis. He’s my… friend.' Eagle eyes turned once more toward Sera... why had she hesitated? Were they not actually friends? Or was it worse... was she embarrassed of him? He had never thought twice about her breed, about how different she was, but did it matter to her? 'And these are my parents, Conan and Mireille, King and Queen of the Summer Eclipse Pack. Now, why don’t we head to the borders and wait for someone?' Her father responded after a moment and Vladimir responded immediately, his tone curt. "I may have looked out for her but it was hardly needed, Seraphina is more than capable of taking care of herself, which you would know if you knew her at all." Arctics stared at her a moment, and then a moment more before redirecting his attention. The prince gestured back the way that Seraphina's parents had come with a nod of his head. "I believe you know the way to at least one point of the boundary, seeing as it would have been the way you came in." Jaws gritted together and he held onto his temper - barely. "Seraphina and I will follow and let you know if you... stray from the way."

In silence they walked through Aurora Borealis, and depending on which way the varg had entered through, it may take them either minutes or hours to reach the boundary. There were so many things that he wanted to say to Seraphina, that he wanted to ask her, but his horrendous pride kept him silent. He was hurt and felt that she must have betrayed him in some way - either by hiding things from him or thinking ill of either his breed or breeding, and kept his mouth shut knowing that in addition to the questions he actually wanted to say, additional things would spew out in anger that he would come to regret. But once he reached the boundary, he couldn't remain silent any longer. In front of him was a tall handsome brute of Seraphina's likening, only he did not possess the scent that her parents shared. Vladimir ground his teeth as a headache started on. "At least you did us the courtesy of waiting. I'm Vladimir, High Prince and Heir to Aurora Borealis. And you are?"
