Scarlet Letters [Tiresias] - " />

At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Though my sins are written in scarlet blood...

Eerie for her credit knew how to read wolves with immaculate accuracy. It had been a part of her training; how else was she supposed to find out the true and dirty secrets that were actually desired? Understanding was 80% through body language instead of the actual words spoken. The most common phrase “I’m fine,” is a perfect example of one of the most used lies. The use of that phrase implied that nothing about their situation or themselves was actually fine. That was simplest of lies and it would’ve taken nothing to know that it was a lie. Eerie job had required that she was able to subconsciously pick up of body cues while she talked or tortured other wolves for information. She had know when they were lying. Seeing the small ticks in their bodies when they lied, like looking left or not being able to make eye contact at all. Some wolves she had tortured had known how to control their noticeable ticks, but everyone had something that they couldn’t control. And it was her job to pick up on these cues, or rather, it had been. Everything about Eerie was past tense now.

What is a… a lake mum?

Molten orbs blinked, coming back into present. She was mum, now, not the trained assassin and soldier of Farant. She was Tiresias’ mother and he was her whole world. She was the whole reason that she was even alive and would continue to be. Well… I still do not know what this whole lake this is… or a shore… but that is the point of this isn’t it, to learn? Let’s go mum! The kalak woman kicked herself for not thinking of the fact that her son was blind. He lacked the sense of sight, he could not possibly know what she meant by lake or cool, or the shore. She stuttered on her words, trying to think up a way to explain this without completely embarrassing herself and making Tiresias feel bad. She couldn’t think of anything, but somehow Tiresias seemed to just understand that maybe she was not exactly cut out for this. She was trying her best though. She meant well and only wanted the best for Tiresias, but Eerie had never exactly planned on having pups and raising them… but that was actually a lie in and of itself. As a young girl, before she’d been introduced to Farant or the army she had imagined herself a little princess. She’d one day find her prince and she’d get the family of her dreams, but she lived in a cruel world where that was not the case. That never happened, not even for the royal children.

Yes, today is about learning my darling. for both of them. Eerie was learning to be a mother and a teacher. Tiresias was learning about the world around him and outside of Cold Summers. She had noticed the distinct change in his posture as they crossed out of Cold Summers. Tiresias’ usual puppyish confidence had completely disappeared and he seemed to lose himself in the variety of new scents that were likely infiltrating his senses. Eerie picked him up before she got them both lost, and carried him until she knew that she was on a good enough path that he could travel safely. She had felt his whine even before she’d heard it, and he ceased it as she placed him once more on the ground, It’s okay darling, you’re okay. I promise I’ll keep you safe and keep on the right path, Apollonia would have my head if I didn’t… she thought the last part to herself. And she knew that wasn’t a joke. Tiresias turned around and around, clearly unsure of what was going on, but he came to her side and leaned up against her. She took this as his ready sign. Her forelimb lifted up and out slowly, her strides were greatly slowed down that Tiresias could keep up with her. You can probably scent everything out here, but I want you to focus on the very distinct scents that are unique to the path you are traveling. Cold Summers smells like Cincinnatus and is more grassy; it’s a flat land. Where we are right now is surrounded by trees, each of them smelling slightly different based on their type. The ground isn’t just grass, but has other textures from the pine needles, twigs, and leaves covering it. Eerie paused and picked up a mouthful of needles and held at Tiresias’ level, she tickled his nose playfully before dropping them. Those were pine needles, it’s not as soft as grass. She started her slow walk once more, Just try to focus on the scents that are constant, versus those that change. You may smell other wolves who’ve traveled through here recently. It’s little things like that, that will help you to know where you are.

They traveled in this fashion for a few hours. Quietly. She wanted Tiresias to ask everything he had to ask and give him the time to know the trail by scent but also by the feel of it under his paws. She knew the silt, sand beaches would be a new experience for him, because there was nothing of the consistency like sand, whether it was packed with water or not. And she smiled as they broke the tree line and came face to face with open shores and water. She stopped and barred Tiresias’ way with her limb. I want you to tell what feels different about the ground and how the air tastes. Describe it as best you can.

I will rewrite them as white as snow...
