The moment Halcyon uttered the word “imprint”, a momentary sense of dread filled his heart. Six years ago, his parents had left this world together. Rhae died because of her injuries she received after her fight with Jaidah. Iblis died because his soul could no longer exist without its other half. Part of Halcyon feared imprinting. The last thing he wanted was for this unknown wolfess to take him away from his friends, his family… Aster. But the moment she spoke, Halcyon felt his fears wash away.
“Solstice.” He said, tasting her name on his tongue. “It is a pleasure to meet you, my lady.” He guided her away from the others, towards the forest pack, so the moonlight was their only companion. The soft, pale light glimmering off the snow made it look like the world was covered in countless, shimmering diamonds. And yet, the red colored boy couldn’t take his eyes off the girl beside him. It was like walking next to his own soul. She mesmerized him. He suddenly felt very protective of Solstice.
As they continued to walk, she spoke of the alpha of Taviora and for a moment, Halcyon thought Fate had played a cruel trick on the new imprints. How could Zelda be her sister? Was she also his niece? But the wolfess cleared any confusion up almost instantly as she explained she had been adopted. Halcyon chuckled, mentally wiping his brow. “Zeltzin, is a good wolf. My brother was wise to choose her for a mate.” Of course, Halcyon also cursed Lucero for leaving her alone to raise all those pups alone.
Returning his attention to Solstice, he offered her a kind smile. “It seems our paths were meant to cross eventually. You probably know much about my family, but I don’t know much about yours. Please, tell me about yourself. I’d like to get to know you.”
