Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

heros may die...but legends endure

She was preparing to leave for Iromar. Her mind was frazzled and her usually calm demeanor was shaken. Zelda was doing this on her own. She tried waiting for him, tried to seek the guidance of those more experienced than she, but there was none this time. Zelda needed to learn on her own, but she would not be alone. She was never alone. She had taken the time to seek out her Trust, she had no head warrior and while she wouldn’t have minded bringing her uncle or grandfather along, they were a bit infirm. The journey would be long, and they were content with giving her advice and trusting her to lead them the right way. Her mother, gone, she was not sure where she had gone, to Glorall perhaps to seek the comfort of her ‘mate’. It had only been a day or two, but Shem and Asriel were well taken care of by Coza. She was certain her mother was safe and she wouldn’t do anything too rash.

In that short time too Winter melted into Spring and Tepi had, by his own will and slightly her own, stolen away two of the wolf’s sons. They were her guests now, her trump card should he decide to be overly nasty. Of course they were well cared for, but they were watched over at all times by someone, nicely. Zelda had made certain Tepi knew they would come to no harm while in her forest, made it known to ALL that they were to be treated as any of their own pack’s children were. Just because Aranck acted like a monster, didn’t give Zelda the right too. Still despite her help, despite all the preparations it was still, nerve wracking. This was a war worthy offence, yet Zelda was offering this Aranck the chance come peacefully without harm coming to his pack. They, as far as she knew, were innocent in it all. Matini had given some insight to his take over, even that had sounded dastardly. Brought in for a trial then murdering the Queen? It all smelled of bad blood.

Speaking of.

A howl echoed over the lands, one that Zelda actually recognized, only by name, never by face. Tithe. His howl once before had called over Taviora some years back, when he was ruler of their mountain neighbor asking for peace. To her knowledge her uncle had accepted but his reign was short when Daenerys came back for the home Roman had unseated her from. He did not hide his affiliations it seemed. Zelda though did not think as ill of them as perhaps maybe was due. Roman already was safely tucked away in the forest. He was, by all rights on his own, a decent wolf. Daenerys had a right to hold her grudges, but her grudges were not Zelda’s. She allowed him to shape his own character. He was fleeting, but the times they had met he had been nothing but polite and kind. Like Roman, Tithe would get a fair chance with the Forest Goddess and she would judge for herself his character.

This was something she was familiar with.

Her form relaxed and her face set into a gentle look, one that was warm and welcoming. Her longer furred, tan legs carried her quickly towards his call. Soon his silvery form came into sight, he was seated on the ground seemingly patiently waiting for whoever it was that would come to greet him.

”Good Morning.” Zelda greeted, dipping her head to the slightly older male, her tail waving lightly behind her. ”I am Zelda, Protector of Taviora.” She smiled at him warmly. ”I know of you Tithe. I have heard good things about you from my Uncle Amoxtli.” the small fem seated herself a comfortable distance before him her tail wrapping around her tan paws. ”So I am very curious, how can I help you today?”

There were some she knew were not worth helping, worth saving out there. Those who challenged and lead and lost that were undeserving of anything good in the world. From what she understood, Tithe was not one of those wolves, just like Roman. He had challenged for the mountains, long term allies of the forest, but he did not unjustly kill those around him, or harm its members. While Roman’s rule too was soon taken up by Tithe she heard no ill words of him while he ruled other than he had unseated Daenerys for a time. He seemed to have treated those who stayed fairly and kind, as did Tithe. One act alone does not ruin the others, and the act of challenging in and of itself was not always one that was abhorrent. Tithe defended what was his at the time, there was no wrong in Zelda’s book for what he had did, even if it had been against the former Queen. After all her grandfather once had taken a wolf in who had challenged him and he offered a home to another. He knew it was simply the way it was sometimes, and no ill had to come of it. There were some challengers however who did not deserve forgiveness, a second chance.

So now she wondered how she could help him and what she could do to make his life a little easier. Who knew? Perhaps maybe they could help each other.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
