He didn't have to wait long. Soon, the sound of paws nearing made his ears swivel around, his head following shortly afterwards. Watching the two dark figures, he stood back up on his paws and kept his tail hanging low. The last thing he wanted was any sort of fight to break out, though he doubted one would. A younger wolf walked beside the Monster, who Halcyon assumed was her offspring. The resemblance was similar, but it was the way she spoke that seemed to confirm his thoughts. She hissed her words, calling him by his forgotten title of days long passed. Cocking a head to the side, the boy wasn't sure how to respond and simply nodded his head before turning his attention to the older wolf.
It took all he had not to physically gasp. When had she gotten so old? The last time they met had only been a few years ago. She had been strong then, strong enough to put him down. Now, she looked tired and old. Gray covered much of her face and her eyes seemed to have a dulled brilliance about them. However, her voice had not changed much. It remained the same groaning like sound that he remembered. As she spoke, the red boy turned his ears forwards to show he was listening intently. After all, the Monster would not bring him here else it was something of grave importance.
In fact, it was the most important thing in Halcyon's life.
If it wasn't for the fact that the Monster was one of the most serious wolves in Moladion, Halcyon would have laughed in her face and walked off. But as she told him he would be allowed to rule over his family's land once more, he could not stop his mouth from hanging open. After all these years, the circle had come around again. For a split second, his thoughts rushed back to his meager rule over Iromar and how badly he had let the Empress down. But the thought was cast away quickly. This was Asteraia, the land of his birth! The land of his blood! He couldn't just let it go. This was his chance to prove himself to his parents. Composing himself, Halcyon bowed his head.
"I thank you for this opportunity, Monster. I promise, the wolves who choose to remain in Asteraia can keep their home. While I do not agree with cannibals, I will continue what you have started and provide them with a place to call home. While I may ask that they... feast... outside of the pack, they will be safe here." After a moment of letting it sink in that he had returned home at long last, his gaze fell upon the Monster once more. "Thank you, for taking care of this land after Jaidah tore it apart."
