Spring was here! Ember couldn't contain her excitement as she bound across the open lands. The harsh winter had been difficult and if not for her small family, she would not have survived. But Liquid Amber and the other gypsies took care of their own and Ember would always be grateful. Today, she was showing how thankful she was by living each moment to the fullest. As the sun rose high into the sky, the silver eyed wolf began to make her way from one end of Moladion to the other. Why? Because she was free to do so. And that was something to be happy about. With a smile on her face, she trotted from Enocra to Ruieze and from Susil to Aplos. It had taken her several hours and her paws were a bit sore, but that did little to damper Ember's cheerful mood.
It was only the sound of something large splashing into the river that made the girl stop, her ears pressed forward and nose twitching. Did someone fall into the river? Oh no! Spring time often meant fast flowing water as the snow melted off the caps of the mountain. Wasn't Iromar close by? What if that had been a puppy!? Thinking the worst had happened, Ember darted forward to the edge of the river. Her heart was racing until she saw an adult wolf rising from the waters.
Sighing, the girl took a moment to quiet her heart. The stranger must not have noticed her yet as he moved from the water and shook himself of the icy liquid. For a moment, Ember wondered if she should go about her way, and pretend she hadn't seen the male. He seemed the type who liked his privacy. Almost at once she had labeled him as a loner, and not just because of the wet stick drifting off him. He was thin, scared, and rugged looking. Even she, though not nearly as much as he, had the same characteristics of a lone wolf.
Today was a good day and she was feeling cheerful. Perhaps she could pass that along to this male too. Taking a few steps forward, she wagged her tail and offered a greeting bark. "Hello there! I hope you don't mind my being here. I thought you might have been a puppy getting pulled into the river. But, you're not. Oh, sorry, I'm Ember! Who are you?" Keeping herself at a safe distance, so as not to threaten the boy, the small girl watched him with bright eyes and a soft smile, waiting to see what he would do.
