Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

It felt heavy like it was going to storm, but perhaps that was just her. She had walked with him in silence for some time, her shoulder touching his. Words were never truly spoken between them about what they were, but they knew it, she knew it. They were mates, well and truly they were. They had been staying in the same den, enjoying each other’s company, ruled a land together, did it need to be said? Many others knew and assumed it of them and she never disagreed, nor did he to her knowledge. She didn’t know though what to do without him. He had told her he would be going on a long journey and he wouldn’t know when he would be back, it would be longer than the others. That he needed to do this to learn about his heritage, and learn more about what his grandfather had taught him before he was taken away. Zelda didn’t fight it, she wanted to go with him, but didn’t even breath that from her maw. She was silent, but it wasn’t because she was angry, it was what it was to her and she understood this was something he needed to do for himself.

In silence they made it to the border. She wasn’t sure she had words left to say. Don’t go. Touched her lips far too many times and tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, but she would not cry, not in front of him. He believed in her to be strong while he was gone and continue on without him. She knew she could, it would be hard, but she would do it of course. He turned to look at her and her teal eyes lifted up to meet his violet and gold ones. The sun was starting to touch the horizon and he leaned into her, touching his muzzle to her own before pulling in her for a hug. He whispered words just for her into her ears, words of encouragement and love. She replied all the same, burying her face into his chest once more not wanting the moment to end. Once it did she knew he would be gone, maybe he would never come back, maybe she would never see him again. Her head pressed harder into him, she felt his grip tighten too before finally he began to pull away and she did too.

A weight like no other was on her chest, it felt like her heart had fallen out of her chest and onto the ground before them. If losing your love was this hard she couldn’t imagine what it was like to lose her soul. He touched his muzzle to hers again, while it seemed he also was being stoic about it all she could tell as she always could he was sad too. Zelda stared at his face burning it into her memory as best she could, but then he slowly turned. Her ears fell back and she took a seat watching him until his white form vanished into the trees and left Moladion and her behind. She could feel herself shaking, taking a few steadying breaths trying her best not to lose control. That would be for later. Later. She had so much to do, she had to go to Iromar, she needed to go to Spirane and Glorall and Diveen. She needed to do so many things and ensure her ties were still formed without him.

Everything felt harder. Everything felt like it was working against her, that it would be impossible. But she had to do it. He knew she could, now she just had to believe in herself. Her Hero was gone, but she was still the Goddess of this forest and Taviora still needed her, with or without a Hero at her side. She pinched her eyes shut, feeling the tears that welled up there drip off the sides. She could do this. This emptiness… it would fade, just like losing Balor, that feeling… would fade. Though lasting as the emptiness was she would work through it. She could do this she would just have to take it one step at a time.

For him. For Them. For Taviora.

Heros may die, but their legends last forever. She would make sure her hero would never die. Someday, hopefully, he would be back and then she would be the legend. That was her new goal, to be the Goddess he always seen her as.

heroes may die...
but legends endure.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
