Staying Mild In Short Term IP: 220.127.116.11 Posted on January 16, 2017 at 11:25:21 AM by T
As a cold trough has set up near Alaska, we will be seeing a ridge of high
pressure here in the eastern U.S. This will mean that temperatures will be
above normal. A cool Canadian high will be just to our northeast this weekend.
We will be into the 40's and looking mainly dry. These above normal
temperatures are forecast to be with us through next Thursday Jan. 26th.
Then the Jet Stream is forecast to take a dive south over the northeastern
U.S. for the end of January and the start of February. The Jet Stream over
the northern Pacific Ocean has been quite strong this winter so far. If
this stays strong, our bouts of cold may be shortened as the milder air off of
the Pacific would push the arctic air out. But for now it looks like a good
bet that we start off February on the cold side with lake effect snow
probably a good possibility. Replies: There have been no replies.
