Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Nobody can drag me down

It was fast coming to my knowledge that Zeus was gone for good. That where a blinded eye and broken paw had not done him in, something else had claimed him and he had disappeared like smoke in the wind. I no longer saw visions of Seline come to haunt me nor did I think much about her for years had passed and complacency had settled in. That didn't mean I was completely solid of mind, only that now my haunting wasn't of being hunted but of being alone. It was a foolish feeling because I always had Nike. He was growing so handsomely with silver and white fur to match mine and Zeus. The firstborn child of my own (excluding those I had birthed then been forced to watch killed) and by far the greatest around. Nothing could touch him and nothing would for my fangs and claws were the fortress within which he was entrenched.

I wash him because it soothes me to do so. The close bond between us eases my agitation from wondering on Zeus. Nike allows me to do this with eagerness and his response makes my own tail wag happily, his scent washing over me as I nip and smooth. He is such a sweet boy and so helpful and I pull back with adoration in my steel gray eyes. "How about we go together?" I could take the time to try and teach him a bit more about hunting, even though I wasn't the most skilled, and also feel safer with having him close by. So that he couldn't disappear either. If I ever lost him... my mind blanks at the idea and I gasp before staring hard at him, imprinting his very figure into my brain again.

Only then do I turn and exit the den into the thick snow, pausing to glance around both cautiously and hopefully but disappointed that a certain figure does not materialize. I glance back at Nike and start loping away from our safe haven, leaping over thick mounds and scent the air and snow until I find recent tracks and droppings from a winter boar. It would be a difficult kill, I think, but as I lead the hunt I notice other smells. They are putrid and make me skittish, ears alternating as they swivel and eyes flashing often to Nike. "Stay near me," I hiss and press on. The boar is found about a mile out, half in a stream and half eaten already. Something had killed it and feasted before retiring for the day and judging by the smell it was of a feline variety. I look about nervously before glancing back at the boar, hunger gnawing at me. "We are lucky today," I say although it lacks enthusiasm but I don't wish to alarm my son. "Let's eat what we can and maybe we can carry some back with us."
