The Monster’s reign had come to an end. A new male had taken over Asteraia, but Nakato could not stay. She had been very loyal to the dark wolfess and when she had learned of her death, her own heart grew heavy. It didn’t help that both her children had left her, Jakuta journeying to discover herself and Athena gone with her father. If not for the ever faithful Ajani, the bob-tailed wolfess would have felt very lonely. As it was, the male was at her side always. He had left the plains with her, braving the free lands in such dangerous times just to be with her. Each step they took together only allowed them to grow even closer. The healer sighed and leaned against the male, inhaling his scent and allowing it to make her heart flutter like a puppyhood crush.

The day was still young as the sun rose higher in the sky, another night survived. She knew they couldn’t live like this for too much longer. At some point, they would need to find a place to call home again. The question was, where? Asteraia had been her home for years and she had grown complacent there. The other packs were a mystery to her. Electric blue eyes gazed up at Ajani as the pair walked under the vast canopy of the dense forest. “What do you think we should do? There are many packs out there, but do you know of which one we should join?”

Another question had formed in her mind, but she didn’t speak it. Not yet. For a long time now, Nakato felt a connection with the male who had been by her side for so long now. But they had yet to declare each other mates. She wondered if that day would be coming soon or if he even wanted her as a mate. A brief moment of doubt over came her as she looked up at him with a desperate fondness, but it passed when his eyes met hers. Once again, she sighed and leaned against him, waiting for him to speak so she could listen to his voice.
