Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

It was odd how comfortable he was around water after what had happened to him as a pup. He still recalled when Samia and he were out playing and he dared her to race him alongside the river. She did and somehow fell in front of him so he tripped over her and fell in the water. The current was too strong and he was too young to fight it. He was pulled under and again and again and all he could hear was Samia's muffled cries. It was funny because while he was drowning, all he could think about was how traumatized she would be and how she would blame herself. He didn't want that for her, so it made him fight harder. Thor would always do anything for his sister. She was his lifeline.

He was going to try harder to be a good brother to her now. He wouldn't leave her like the others did after their parents died. He would be there for her and try to be a better pack member for Eden because he deserved it. He was a good alpha and Thor hoped he would come to see him as an asset to Glorall.

He still found himself walking the banks of the river though. The sound of running water was always relaxing for him, even after his harrowing experience. Sure, he was nervous around water for a while after that but he faced his fears and got over it. He lived in Glorall on a beach, after all. He wasn't going to reserve himself to living in fear the rest of his life. He had too many plans for that.

He looked down both sides of the river, knowing one flows up into the mountains and the other down into the swamps. Looking toward the horizon, Thor could tell that it would be night soon. He had heard the rumors that it wasn't safe at night anymore, that predators were out for blood. His muscles twitched. He almost welcomed the challenge but at the same time, he didn't want to face down a bear or cougar alone. Not that it would be that hard or anything but he had others to think about. He had to be healthy or Samia would worry for him. He didn't want to let her down.

His head snapped around when he heard what sounded like a twig snapping in the trees behind him. His green eyes narrowed as his ears flicked forward.

"HELLO? WHO'S THERE?"
