The idea of having a cliff-den, ocean-side was more than enchanting to her. It’d been so long since she peacefully fell asleep to the sound of the ocean crashing against the rocks. The sounds of the sealife frolicking to the surface, and the birds that swooped over head. It made her mind whirl at the thought of that being where she’d lay her head for the rest of her days, however long she’d be given them. She thought of the words she’d heard between her adoptive parents as she grew up, wondering if their words were univocal, or if they meant them in more than one way. She knew they had loved each other, but never knew if they had been imprints, or if it had been a true love setting.
In all her years, she’s never felt love. Only fear. She had been lucky to find an imprint, ages ago, and over and over again since, but they’d all been crazy, or vanished without a word, leaving the bond severed and broken, with no emotion attaching itself to them anymore. She was tired of searching for that bond of an imprint who was true and kind, she knew it was never going to happen. But had she ever thought she would begin to fall for another, a decade younger than herself, when she was nearing the end of her time in this world? No, never in a million years had she dreamed of a ending like this. But maybe that was what all the terror she led in her life was leading up to, a final love that is never-ending.
Her heart was thudding in her chest, uneasy eyes looking down-cast at the ground, unsure how her words would be accepted by him. She’d never been taught the ways to talk to another in a meaningful manner like this, so it was more than new to her, it felt nearly awkward, to be honest. Part of her itched to move closer, a part inside her that had been deprived of affection for so many years, but she held off, unsure whether or not he’d be receptive of a touch from her.
His words come to her then, and she felt like she’d swallowed her heart and it was trying to escape. She lifted her gaze, galaxy eyes watching him closely as he spoke. She found that her mind was slowly quieting, her heart thudding in her chest so loud she wondered If he could hear it. She felt a smile begin in her eyes, almost as if it were something she couldn’t control. She found herself moving, without realizing it, her small frame scooting to stand beside his, closer than she should have dared. “Everything you do makes me smile, Panzer.” She spoke softly, her head shifting to press against his shoulder. Pulling back slightly when she realized what she was doing. Oh, she only hoped it didn’t freak him out.
