It was his huffs of distress that called her attention back to Thoth’s form it was painful to watch and yet she couldn’t fully understand him despite how desperately she had tried. It was after she had spoken he had begun to gag and gasp her ears lowered her eyes watching him closely offering him a soft whine breaking her throat. She could no longer stand in her place despite her own mental battles she shrugged off the gnawing that had left her since she had strayed so far away from him. For a creature that knew no fear the raw knotting of her stomach was enough to show her disdain and sorrow.
He laid himself onto the earth; wide-eyed and mouth agape and she couldn’t resist the temptation any longer. Her muzzle lowered, hovering over him as she had closed the gap between them. No anger or hostility, not even a sound escaped her muzzle in these moments; she rubbed her muzzle against his cheek and into the scruff of his neck. Her soft cry broke the air. She wasn’t a creature that soothed she wasn’t even a kind creature. Had it been any other she would have left them for dead but this was Thoth. Her companion, it was her choice who she nurture and whom she shunned. She stood over him protectively waiting to see if he would return the normal state of being.
His gaze lifted to her own still panting she blinked and tilted her head. She was smart but to understand how he felt was lost on her. Sekhmet licked beneath his chin whining softly her tail curled slightly beneath her belly moving from its place only as she folded onto her own limbs lying as close to him as he permitted.
