Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The Deadliest Huntress
female cougar - 12 years old - 38" - 250#

With a shift of the wind, the hunter was exposed. Her scent was dragged to the wolf and he knew she was there in an instant. It wasn’t going to stop her from claiming what was hers! She moved as fast as her old bones would let her and tried to end his life with a vicious swipe of her massive claws. But, it seemed her movements were not nearly fast enough.

The dog dodged from the fatal blow only to have her lightly scratch his flesh. Hissing wildly with her large canine teeth bared, she watched as he tried to snap down on her face. Her brain told her legs to carry her away from danger, but her body moved just a moment too slow. His teeth crushed down on the tip of her left ear, cutting the skin and making her bleed.

Pulling away, the cat growled as she slowly began to pace around the young wolf, searching for an opening. Perhaps she had underestimated the brute, thinking he was too young to defend himself. Just when she thought there was a place she could strike, the wind shifted once again and brought the scent of another wolf. Snarling, the old cougar watched a tall, red wolfess appear as she bound over a bush. Why were the wolves in this land so big!? It was two to one now, but that didn’t mean the cat was out of the fight just yet.

The male had made her bleed. This was no longer just a hunt. She wanted to do the same to him. His meat would taste divine once it had been torn to shreds! Moving so both wolves were in front of her, she crouched down and lunged forward, hoping to land on the wolf’s back. He might be big, but so was she. They were matched in size, but she was heavier with muscles designed to bring down larger prey without the help of others. If she managed to grasp him, she would rake her claws along his flesh before aiming to bite the area on the back of his neck. Sever his spinal cord and end it quickly, but not too quickly.

(Sorry for the confusion on the location. I edited the first part to, hopefully, make a little more sense now. Also, thanks for waiting, sorry it took so long!)
