Many wolves looking for relaxation come to Blossom Field. A gentle breeze vibrating the blossoming flowers is quite a sight to see and it is quite a favourite for wolves to come with their mates.

A recent fire has ruined the scenery, half the field covered with soot and marked with scars of the flames. The other half is untouched, however.

Time had not been unkind to the young prince of Aurora Borealis; rather it had been quite the opposite actually. The once gangly pup with paws too big for his small frame, had slowly grown up and out. The soft and fluffy fur that had once covered every inch of his body had slowly thinned out and was lost through the summer. Grown and still growing into its place was a lusciously thick winter coat of thickening ash. Layer upon layer of steely and foggy grays meld together and create the palate of soot and ash that covers his frame. Overlaid across the top is a marbling of obsidian stone that drapes from his crown to the breadth of his withers and is in stark contrast to the snowy splash that covers his throat and chest, exactly like his brothers’. The prince was still far from being the adult that he would become physically and mentally. For now though, the stark changes to his appearance were enough and even now he was beginning to put on the muscle that would pull his skin taught over his frame one day. For now though he remained skinny, unsuspecting, and still very immature. All of this was observed by pretty much everyone but him, Castiel was pretty oblivious like most of his own age. He just had yet to suffer the consequence of that.

Castiel did not know heartache or first love like his brother.

This did not mean Castiel didn’t see and know that his brother was suffering now that Seraphina’s family was back and that brute, Kael. Or whatever the hell his name was. Castiel did not typically judge wolves at first glance, but the pain that Vladimir was suffering was beyond Castiel’s full understanding but he did know that Kael was magnifying whatever it was and not in a good way. The ashen Prince knew that his brother had feelings for Seraphina; that was all too obvious to him, but not the two lovebirds. He had not really taken time to get involved in the whole thing, but he had found out enough to know that his mother and father were leaving, Aindreas was taking charge, and that left Cas and Vlad in the hands of the whole pack. And the sudden entrance of Seraphina’s family had not helped the situation either. Everything was getting too tense and Castiel’s withstanding patience and unusually forgiving demeanor was beginning to run thin. The young prince had needed a break from it all, from everyone. He needed air to breathe. What better place to get it than in the open fields of Blossom Field?

The day had just been borne and the earliest rays of light had not yet crested through the thinning groves of Aurora Borealis. The boys had not yet moved out of their parents den, and Cas wasn’t sure if they would after they left. It was home to them and with their parents leaving it would be open to them to remain in comfortably. Cas figured that Vlad would want to move out though and if Seraphina stayed around Cas half wondered if they would share a den… but wasn’t that for mates only? Then again they seemed more than friends although Castiel was privy to the reality of the situation at the moment. Soft ambers orbs had been watching the entrance of the den for hours now, waiting for the slightest hint of daylight to release him from the confines of the pack. A glimmer filtered through the overhanging vines and Castiel rose up quietly, picking himself apart from his family before padding silently out of the den and walking a ways away before breaking out into a full gallop.

Fall’s cool air whipped through his pelt and a wide smile spread across the prince’s lips as he broke across the border and slowed to a gentle lope through the undergrowth. The delicate rays of the sun were starting to filter more brightly through the deciduous trees, but it did little to warm up the shaded grove. Castiel’s icy flecked ambers roved over the land in curiosity, wondering what kind wolves he could possibly run into. His mind thought little of the trouble that he could get himself into, but he knew that the training that he had gotten from his father and from the warriors in Spring Grounds would be enough to get out of trouble so he could run. Castiel was slim and lean and built more for speed and distance than his brother who was larger and built more for force than he. It was no wonder Castiel had started to get so good with words, it was his first wall of defense.

He broke through the wall of the forest and found himself in a field overlaid with a thick morning fog. The rays of light were softer now and small droplets of the air condensed on his pelt, but the Prince of Aurora was unconcerned about it at the moment. His lope slowed to a trot and then a walk as he admired the last of the colorful pops of flowers that were still hanging in the field. Ever so often his crown would dip down and rise up until his maw was filled with a bouquet of flowers. Most of it consisted of the bright red poppies, but interspersed were smaller orange and yellow flowers. It was perfect bouquet to match the season, only there was no one to share it with. A soft breeze ruffled the obsidian caped Prince, and along that breeze he scented another wolf. He turned and followed the scent until he found himself in front of balled up wolfess. Castiel took in a breath but caught a nose full of pollen. He snorted and then coughed awkwardly trying to get rid of the yellow from his nose, but to no real avail. All of this likely disturbing the young, sleeping miss, and the last thing Cas had intended to do.
