The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

He wondered about her childhood, how different it must have been from his own. Were her parents always around or did something happen? He was curious to know what had made her into the wolf she was today but he didn't want to seem rude by asking. If she wanted to open up about that, she was welcome to and he would listen but maybe it wasn't the kind of conversation you want to have with someone you just met and now have to spend the night with in a cavern while waiting for the sun to rise. He glanced again at the mushrooms, wondering how he was going to make it through the night being in the same area as something so deadly and dangerous. Would Samia save him if anything happened to him? Of course she would. She was his sister after all! But what if she couldn't? Would Jubilee ever experiment on someone like him? Would she want to make sure it worked like she thought it would? He was just a stranger to her after all, no one to worry about. He shifted. Now he was the one being paranoid.

She smiled when he mentioned her mother and he was relieved to think he hadn't offended her because that wasn't his intention. She told him that her father was paranoid and her mother had run off. His expression softened in sympathy at that thought. What must it be like to be raised by no one really? Her father had died? He heaved a heavy sigh and looked away for a minute, his tail lowering in sadness. It reminded him of his own parents' death but at least they were around while he was growing up. Neither of them were paranoid either. Finally he looked back up at her.

"I'M SORRY. IT WAS RUDE OF ME TO JUDGE THEM WITHOUT KNOWING THEM AND KNOWING YOU. DID YOU RAISE YOURSELF?"

He was curious but he wouldn't be offended if she didn't want to answer. She sighed and his brows furrowed, wondering if she was thinking about her parents. Whens he laughed, his lips tugged into a soft smile, liking the sound. It almost calmed him, which was a good thing with those mushrooms still too close in his mind. At her challenging question, he chuckled and raised a brow.

"WELL, I GUESS THAT'S FOR ME TO KNOW AND YOU TO FIND OUT. I JUST HOPE YOU'RE NOT TOO TICKLISH."

He offered a teasing grin, his tail swishing. His head tilted as she started to tell him about being prepared and not trusting too soon. He scowled thoughtfully before he nodded in acknowledgement.

"I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT. DO I SEEM TRUSTWORTHY YET OR AM I STILL ON THE FENCE?"

He couldn't help but ask, his eyes twinkling as he waited for her response. She had looked away and he hoped to lighten the mood a little. She told him not to plan on eating anything and he rapidly shook his head.

"OH YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT. I'M GOING TO KEEP A TEN FOOD DISTANCE FROM THOSE THINGS AT ALL TIMES. I'M GOOD RIGHT HERE."

He shifted his weight as if to prove his point before offering her a sheepish grin. He wasn't a coward but he certainly wasn't going to risk his good health by standing too close to poisonous mushrooms. He was sure Samia would approve. Meanwhile he figured he might as well share a little since they were going to be spending the night together, after all. He took a seat and sighed in contentment before glancing at her again.

"I LOST MY PARENTS TOO. NOT TOO TERRIBLY LONG AGO. THEY DIED TOGETHER ACTUALLY, PEACEFULLY IN THEIR SLEEP. I WASN'T AROUND TO BE THERE FOR MY SISTER AND MY OTHER SIBLINGS AND NOW I'M TRYING TO MAKE UP FOR IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS? IF YOU HAD A BROTHER, WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU FORGIVE HIM?"

Might as well use her feminine opinions while he had her here anyway, right?
