Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

She watched him with such intensity that he felt that she could see all his little secrets, all his weaknesses. He didn't like feeling so vulnerable and he shifted his weight but held his ground, not wanting to look like a coward. She held herself with confidence like she might be used to others fearing her but he only wanted to study her and see what she was all about. If he ever started to feel like he was in real danger, then he would find a way to excuse himself and somehow get back to Glorall and safety but if he was ever going to be a good warrior, he needed to learn to stand up for himself and there was never anything bad about having an ally, even if it was a shady ally. She held herself like a predator and he almost felt like she might chase him if he did decide to run. He didn't want to turn his back on her at all. She was quiet for the longest time, just looking at him and he wanted so badly to turn away or leave, anything to get away from that piercing gaze but his pride wouldn't let him give in so easily. He was going to see this through and see if he could make an opportunity out of this.

Even so, she was alert and he admired that about her. She was a survivor; it was clear. She never gave him her full attention, her ears always watchful for the rest of their surroundings but she never counted him out either. When he asked about the others she was talking about, she curled her lips and showed some fang but he held his ground, not letting her see it get to him. He stiffened a little, bracing himself but his brows furrowed in thought. She seemed to be deep in thought herself but she never gave an answer so he decided to let it drop. Maybe it wasn't so important who "they" were as long as he knew he could do something about it if "they" decided to show up. And she would help him do that, if she agreed anyway. Finally she says that they're not a wolf and he scowled in thought. So cougars and bears and such. He nodded, hoping it wasn't something so bad as the epidemic that hit Moladian some years ago. There was something being spread from the carcasses of prey and wild animals were going crazy, turning on each other and then dying. They never really figured it out but he remembered the stories from his parents. Hopefully it wasn't history repeating itself.

The female held herself like a fighter always prepared to fight and he was taking lessons even now. He would learn how to hold himself like that too. He found himself almost mimicking her as they continued to look at each other. He could tell the minute she took his offer into account, her eyes shining as she started to hiss her approval of this. His ears pricked and his tail gave a gentle swish of satisfaction. So his plan was working. She moved even closer to him and he again held his ground, simply keeping his eyes and one ear on her as she moved in. She rubbed against his side in claim and he wondered at the gesture, knowing it wasn't affectionate like the way he had done to Inanna. No, it was something more unpredictable than that, something temporary and as wild as she was. She urged him to go and and even aimed a nip at him. He winced at the feel of her teeth and started to walk forward, his lips twitching but he knew better than to curl his lips back at her, knowing it would just be a challenge to invite her wrath. He would play by her rules, at least for now. He wanted to see where this got him, after all.

He didn't know where he was supposed to be going so he just walked forward, keeping one ear steadily trained on her behind him in case she got any funny ideas about turning that nip into something more. Finally he caught a scent of something not wolf and he nudged his head toward it for her to sniff too, picking up on a faint scent on the bark of a nearby tree.

"PROBABLY FROM LAST NIGHT OR POSSIBLY THE NIGHT BEFORE. SHOULD WE FOLLOW IT OR KEEP GOING?"

He raised a brow at her, waiting on her response. This might turn into a fun night, after all.
