he should have probably been more alarmed at the sudden bop on the nose.
rather though, coriander rises from his slumber with a large yawn that exposes his sparkly white canines, and he rolls back to his stomach to stretch out his back. his tail wags lazily as he glances up at the girl in front of him, a wolf colored not unlike himself. she's even about his size, though size hadn't daunted him in the past, he was perhaps the most fearless wolf thanks to his sheer naivety. come large or small wolf, cori greeted them all with a tail wag that made even his bottom wiggle, and a big grin one had once mistaken for baring of teeth.
"Hullo." his voice is soft and kind, something you might expect from a wisened elder, though wise wasn't quite the word to describe him. he stays happily situated on the ground in front of the lady, tail still moving slowly, innocently. "Have you been waiting long?" he poses the question as if it would be completely normal, a stranger coming upon a napping wolf and deciding to hunker down and wait until they wake. he doesn't realise that most wolves wouldn't nap midday in a very open place, nor would they be so unaware that the presence of another wouldn't rouse them. perhaps this was why pack life wasn't for him, he would be onerous, he lacked the self-preservation that most wolves were born with. he was the oddity, the abnormal, and few would willingly choose to look out for someone who was just as likely to go walking off a cliff as he was to meander into a cougars den.
