Something had happened. Something Matthias didn't understand. The moment the wolfess looked at him, her eyes shimmering like gemstones, the world around him vanished. There were not birds singing, no scent other than hers. Time seemed to slow for an instant as she blinked slowly, hiding the doorways into her soul. But it was too late. The door had been opened, waiting for him and now that he was here, it shut close. No other would be able to view her soul but him, the rugged outsider who knew nothing of imprinting. To so many others, the moment was to be a happy occasion. Something Moladion born wolves waited their whole lives to experience. To Matthias, it was foreign and terrifying. His heart skipped a beat only to begin again in the same rhythm as hers. Why!? What had happened to him? What had she done!? She spoke her name, but she didn't need to. Somehow, he had known what it was already. Leviathan, daughter of the caves from a time long ago. No, he couldn't know that! Backing up, the older wolf shook his head as if trying to rid himself of annoying buzzing bee. He growled and snarled, as if this would stop the strange feelings from happening. They only grew stronger. A desire to be nearer to her urged him to take a step closer, the instant she had done the same. Her voice spoke again, words that barely reached Matthias. The soothing sound of her voice calmed him, and yet angered him so! Torn between what he knew and what he felt, the old mercenary closed his eyes and lowered his head, breathing deeply. Slowly, the unfamiliar feelings began to settle, allowing him a moment to regain his composure. Steel blue eyes snapped open and gazed once again on Leviathan. "You do not know me and I sure as hell don't know you. What is happening to me? What did you do? Answer me!" The last words were spoken in a growl as his voice rose into a yell. He instantly regretted it. No! He shouldn't! Since when did he care about the feelings of others, especially strange women who tangled him in some kind of spell? Impatiently, he waited for her to answer his demands, all the while resisting the urge to apologize for his rudeness. |
