Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The bastard was dead. His traitorous crown rotted in the swamps to be picked apart and left to decay as the moors could finally flourish without his paws killing everything that they touched. Aranck had left a trail of destruction in his wake, but in the end, he had been weak. He was weak of mind, of body, of constitution, of morals- he was not a leader that could be followed, and it was only loyalty to her Other Mother that had kept her within Iromar beneath him. He had been replaced, though, by a leader that Vasily assumed was worthy of following. She had killed him, after all, proving her strength in ending his weakness and eradicating the plague that had been his leadership. Mother had returned home, though lacking a certain shadow of a boy, and today Vasily's mission was twofold.

Avtandil's scent was strong here, along with the scent of the beasts that roamed the night- was he daft? Had he not noticed that nighttime was no longer safe for wolves outside of pack boundaries? Her brother was not weak, no wolf of her blood could be, but perhaps he was stupid. Vasily let out a small huff, her nose to the ground, the pale light of the early fall moon shimmering down through the trees and reflecting off of the river. It would have been a peaceful night, perhaps one to be spent contemplating the serenity of nature, was it not for the eerie silence of the forest and the heavy, dangerous musk of nightbeast. Pine had tasked her with finding out more about these creatures, and find more about them she would, while also making sure that her apparently oblivious brother was safe from them as well.

Vasily truly did not care where Avtandil went, whether he came back to Iromar or sought a different pack, but she would not have him wandering about uselessly and waiting to become a cougar's next meal. Apparently this Senketsu who he had been sent to reside with for the time being had not imparted any sort of important wisdom onto him, but the girl did not doubt it. She was slowly beginning to think that all boys could be incredibly daft and rather useless. Mother and Other Mother, she thought, did a better job at raising them both than a Mother and a Father could, and she rarely gave thought to the word 'father.' Curious, perhaps, that she did not know of him, but she did not exactly care to. Her family was fine as it were, anyway, despite the suicidal stupidness of her brother's nighttime wanderings.

She caught sight of a movement in the trees ahead, nearer to the riverbank. His scent began to thicken in the air and she moved towards the form, her ears falling flat against her head and her lips raising in a slight snarl as she recognized it to be her brother. "Avtandil!" She whisper-yelled as she ran up to him, her nose pressing into his fur as she sniffed him all over to make sure that he was relatively uninjured. When she was done, she spun to face him, her eyes narrowed and her fur ruffled. "What do you think you are doing? Can you not smell the danger in the air? Are you daft, brother, or perhaps on a suicide mission?" Her voice was quiet and exasperated. "Where the hell have you been, anyway?"
