He could have said that he was just raised to be who he was today but that would be a lie since no one really raised him. His brother, River, was around until they were yearlings then he just kind of disappeared which left Exodus by himself. He stuck around Diveen because it was the closest thing to home he ever knew but he didn't make a lot of friends. He met Stella and then her children which is when he first laid eyes on Bellatrix. Even as a cub, she was spirited and he took a liking to her, which turned to something more intimate as she grew older. But then something happened to Stella and she didn't recognize him. She tried to kill him and Bellatrix jumped in to save him. She ended up killing her own mother and Exodus didn't think she ever really recovered from that. She blamed herself for her mother's condition. Maybe that's why she disappeared. Besides them, Exodus didn't really talk to anyone else around Diveen. He left when he was young and never felt the need to go back. Malleah was a whole other kind of addiction. With Bellatrix, it was intrigue. She was so mysterious and strong. She was the kind that never needed saving. She was her own knight in shining armor. She didn't need Exodus but it was nice that she wanted him with her anyway. With Malleah, it was more mutual. She needed him as much as he needed her. It wasn't a physical need. He didn't think she was weak or that she couldn't survive on her own. She had certainly proved that ten times over. She was a survivor. It was a deeper need. She wanted companionship and love, the unconditional kind that didn't depend on whether she could provide a litter every season. In a way, Exodus wanted that intimacy with someone more than anything. He never got close enough to Bella to ask her if she would be his and in a way, he always wondered if she ever would. She never wanted to surrender. Malleah said she would be his and it was the best thing he'd ever heard in his life. To know that he could have her, all of her. It made him the happiest wolf in the world. He didn't care that she was with another male, that she had given birth to another male's pups just this past spring. He didn't care that she seemed so happy to be away from the pups and the male. He only cared that she was with him and she seemed happy enough to stay that way. He wouldn't ask her what had become of her mate. It didn't matter. All that mattered was that he was her mate in the future, that she was his. Her body felt so natural wrapped up around him. It felt right for him to protect her, to defend her with his dying breath. She looked almost surprised when he said that he was hers, as if she didn't expect such a statement from him but he meant every word. His eyes glowed with a happiness only she could bring him. She wagged her tail and told him that she would be his too and he grinned ear to ear. He didn't care that she didn't say she already was his because he knew love didn't work like that sometimes. It wasn't always an overnight thing. He knew that he would never feel the same way for another that he did for her but it was okay that she needed time. She had been with another male who betrayed her trust after all. He had all the time in the world and he would wait for her. He thought for a minute he saw something darken in her expression like she was thinking of something that upset her and he wanted to ask about it but he held his tongue. If she wanted to open up to him about her thoughts, she would do so in her own time. He wouldn't push her for anything. He didn't want to lose her. When he licked her, she licked him back and he smirked, happy to have this memory with her. Hopefully it would be the first of many. She stood on the banks and watched him and he saw the thoughtful frown on her face. He thought it was adorable. His eyes lit up when he saw it but he continued to concentrate on getting her a fish. He wanted to show her that he could provide for her. That he could be everything she needed. When he offered her the fish, she smirked and moved over to him with a grace he couldn't see mimicked by anyone. He could stare at her forever when she moved like that. His eyes lit up with desire but he was willing to wait as long as she wanted and if she never wanted to be touched like that, he wouldn't push her. He wanted her for more than her beauty. He wanted all of her. She laid down by him and nudged him so he smirked and laid down beside her, pushing his shoulder into hers playfully as he laid the fish out between them. He snorted when she told him that he would eat with her because she didn't want him going hungry. "HAVE YOU SEEN ME? I'D NEED WAY MORE THAN A DAY OF FASTING TO GO HUNGRY, I ASSURE YOU." He winked at her teasingly. She said that she would try his method when they were done and he smiled. "I'M SURE YOU'LL CATCH THEM LIKE A PRO." He assured her. He loved that grin on her face, so much so that he couldn't help but reach out to lick the tip of her nose befure he reached in to take a bite of the fish, smirking as he watched her. He couldn't get enough of her. He didn't think he ever could.
