I nod to his idea about looking for a clearing that is not too big, not too small, and not too obvious. That does sorta narrow down visually when they scan an area. I knew it could take many trips to find anything, but I would find something, damn it. I pause for a second at a large tree, lifting my grey paws up to scratch at its surface as a marker, before continuing on.
I flick my ears when speaks. I was not immediately sure what he spoke of, but it made sense after a moment. My face had been touched by scars from the day he went mad. I had to fight him off. Not like I mind too much- I enjoy a good fight, but at the same time, I have no plans on dying either. I am not sure if he would have gone far enough to kill me that day. I can say that it didn't happen- but would it have if he was given a better chance at it? I happen to be swift and know my stuff. If I were slow and lacking skill, would he have snapped my neck? Of course, these thoughts wandered in my mind a bit. It didn't happen though, and I have the scars to show I survived. I suppose I deserve death when I am no longer able to defend myself. I huff slightly.
"Nothing you can do about it now. Just...try not to do it again if you can, okay?" I know that might be a hefty thing to ask, but I might as well.
"Is that really all?" I asked, my blue eyes directing away as we go through a path in the woods. There was enough sunlight here, and I think I see more light ahead. Perhaps a small clearing. I go to another tree close by, once again clawing the side until a significant mark is left.
"Clearing ahead. I doubt we will be lucky this fast," I say, knowing it is doubtful we will come across the place of the murder so early in our search. Who knows though- sometimes you get lucky. I rarely feel lucky though. I always have to fight and claw my way for everything I get. I jump over a small fallen tree, a common thing in the woods, and into the tall grassy clearing. It is only clear for a good 10-12 wolf lengths with their tails, but good enough. I look to Magnus for a moment, before my nose touches the ground to begin the search with smell.
