Re(3): Golden Eagle

There are several immature Bald Eagles on the lake ice of Lake Simcoe right now so a very commmon observation. Bald Eagles like to visit lake ice areas and areas of ice melt looking for fish and mammals frozen in the ice. Golden Eagle usually don't hang around ice but like forests or open areas with large mammals like dead deer or moose to feed on. It take a Bald Eagle four years to reach adult plumage with a white head and tail. Each year's plumage is different with white mottling on the breast, white breast, dark breast and white wing linings. If you get a photo of the bird then we can not only tell the species but also how old it is by the plumage.
