At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Abandonment was one thing, but consciously deciding to leave your children was a whole other thing. One that carried so much more weight to the party involved. So this wasn’t a form of overreaction was it? Castiel was completely in the right for having these sorts of thoughts and feeling as angry as he did towards his parents, right? There was no real right or wrong answer, but anger felt better than the confusion that was swarming him. The silvery donned prince did not take well to not knowing and though he could usually keep his cool better than his brother Vladimir, the culmination of this and the problems that his brother were facing had been too much to handle. He was level headed to a point and it had been much more than surpassed at the recent pack meeting. Castiel, for the current moment, was done with everything in his life. He couldn’t stand to be in the vicinity of his family, even though they were already gone. That meant Aindreas was supposed to be watching over him, but that also meant he had to watch Vlad and the little gaggle of Ethiopians that had showed up at their doorstep, along with the rest of the pack, who at the moment did not trust him with the absolute loyalty they had shown his father. This gave Castiel the perfect opportunity to make a run for it, to escape for a little while.

So that’s exactly what he did…

Castiel ran headlong into the depths of Aurora Borealis and went straight for the lakeside border. This gave the prince cover in case anyone came looking for him, especially Aindreas. The border along the lake was vague and so it could be argued that he was just hanging around the lake and had never really left the packlands, not that there was really any rule barring him from leaving; he just never asked. Silvery and snow painted limbs galloped across the land and the obsidian cape jostled in the wind as he raced along the old paths towards the expansive lake.

Only a few months before he, Vlad, and Seraphina had come racing through here, running away from the demons of their imagination. And now Cas was running from the harsh reality of his own life towards the fantasy that he had once ran away from. For all of the times that Castiel had held his cool, had composure and acted years beyond his age, he forgot all of this when it seemed to matter most. He didn’t want to face this reality because the sting of it was too much to bear. And the same thoughts that had bothered him in Blossom Field came dancing back. Why he didn’t seem to feel anything towards anyone, especially females. Sure, he loved his family, but unlike Vladimir, Castiel never developed anything for Sera. She was friend, through and through. There wasn’t even a hint of something more and though this made it one less thing for the brothers to butt heads over it was still just as frustrating to Castiel as ever. Hell, Castiel and Vladimir had yet to even really fight over anything. Castiel growled in frustration, which turned into a pant as he pushed himself harder down the path.

All of these thoughts washed straight from his mind though as he broke through the brush and the stark scent of blood hit him. Castiel skidded across the silt beach spraying it out in a fan as he came to a halt, his honey orbs searching out the source of the smell. A scream scattered the air and Castiel instantly spotted the two wolves. He had no time to judge character, breed, or ask why they were here. He raced towards them seeing that the larger of the two wolves laid in the water, which was red with blood. Most of which he assumed to be hers. Castiel glimpsed the other figure, a young male like himself who looked to be related to the wolf in the water. The silver and ash prince did not say a word or ask permission, but instead grabbed the woman by the scruff and began to pull her out of the water. Although he had been running for the last hour or more, the sudden rush of adrenaline had renewed his strength. He grunted and huffed with the amount of energy he was exerting to pull this wolfess out, but as soon as she was free from the lapping waves he was able to pull her clear and up onto a shelf of sand.

Castiel leaned his head against her chest and listened for a heartbeat, which he found though it was quick and shallow. The figure suddenly sputtered to life and a whistle of air and clash of teeth whooshed by his ear and Castiel pulled away. Molten orbs glared and ivories bared, the woman growled threateningly, Get away from me! Castiel went wide eyed, but quickly regained himself and backed away hoping that the woman was too weak to attack. The sudden burst of energy did not last and she went limp once more, but her breathing had steadied and her eyes would flutter open every once and a while. Castiel looked to other figure for any distinct injury or threat, Are you okay? What happened to you guys? I need to get something to stop her bleeding… Castiel’s quick assessment revealed nothing, not even the blindness that afflicted the boy. He ran back up the beach, Will you help me gather moss? Not knowing of the boys blindness Castiel assumed he would follow without question.
