Re(3): Super Late Model $10,000 Point Fund @ Coos Bay Speedway 2017 Posted on 3/18/2017 at 03:08:56 PM by CW
It's a good thing when a track tries to do something for the racers. Management at Coos Bay needed to pick something and
go with it. They chose NASCAR.
The point fund is good, and they raised the purse to win the weekly race to $500. More at 18 cars.
Down side? NASCAR license for the racer is $200. I don't think the crew pays for a license, just the driver. hopefully the locals get on board. Will a visitor have to pay $200 to race there once or twice?
Not one to be outdone, Willamette raised their Late Model point fund and they remain the biggest paying Late Model show in the state. It's what you'd expect from the Late Model hub.
Down south in Medford, Late Models get $500 to win, so racers have an option to come down there when they get a chance. No license fee there.
As to what The Grove will do for Late Models. Aren't they $500 to win? Haven't seen any announcement on point fund. They announced one for Limited Sprints, and I'll be curious to see if that division's purse goes up from $500 to win in light of what Medford is doing.
It's nice that the Late Model racer has options for where the want to go. The important thing is that the class continues. Replies: There have been no replies.
