She was there to stop him every time he tried to get around her and leave this accursed place in his wake. All thoughts of the fawn had evaporated from his mind, for he was completely consumed by the notion of how his mother would react when she found he was missing. Nike couldn't do that to her. He couldn't be like his father, stupid Zeus with his stupid godliness and stupid disappearing act. It had been so hard on Everlast when he'd vanished without even telling her where he was going! Aster told him to stop, but he tried one more time and then felt so defeated and panicked that he wasn't sure what to do. Wide silver eyes darted back and forth, trying to figure out where to go. Her words practically fell on deaf ears, though a single audit did flick towards her as she spoke. If the pallid boy could have gone any paler, he would have, his breaths short and fast. Zeus...stupid...godliness.
Finally he froze, turning towards her and trying to muster some kind of look that would convey strength and maybe instill a little fear. In truth, he only accomplished looking a bit crazed, more reminiscent of his father now than he'd ever hoped to become. "I am a demi-god, and if you don't let me go, I will make lightning smite you!" He remembered hearing Zeus talk about how he could summon lightning to strike down anyone who threatened him or Everlast. Nike didn't know how, but maybe just the threat would be enough to make Aster let him go. Of course, the complete lack of clouds in the sky and an otherwise perfectly sunny day didn't really help his case. Well, that and threatening a Queen.
So when that failed to work, a more pleading look entered his eyes. He wasn't used to being told no. Everlast made sure he was always happy, that he wanted for nothing even if they didn't always have the biggest or freshest kills for meals. They had each other, what more did they need? "I can't stay here. I can't leave her out there alone." His voice dropped slightly, a true and honest worry for his mother's wellbeing consuming his entire being. What kind of Queen forced a mother and son to live apart?
