News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

moonfeather

The brief touching of their noses seemed to have had an effect on Baird as well, his fidgeting movements quelled by the accidentally intimate embrace. Of course their overall closeness could certainly be interpreted for something far more intimate than intended if some passerby was to glance within the den. But the art of healing and the profession of shamanism was an intimate affair in and of itself, and Moonfeather was doing her best to keep that in mind. She was comfortable in Baird's presence and set to work on the wounds across his face, but there was still that underlying apprehension that may have had less to do with her relative inexperience (by comparison to his mother) and more to do with...something else that she couldn't quite put a name to.

In an attempt to alleviate the slowly rebuilding nervous tension within the den, she brought up the fact that they were each other's parents' apprentices. Baird's reaction wasn't quite what Moonfeather had hoped for. Luckily she had paused to ask the question, so when he flinched in apparent shock at the realization Moonfeather was able to withdraw slightly so as to avoid bumping callously against his injuries. "Careful," she breathed sternly, not wanting him to make anything worse than it already was. But she couldn't help but smile a moment later when she resumed cleaning the wounds and he spoke to his own feelings on the matter. A light laugh escaped her throat, amused by his obvious discomfiture by the notion. He knew better than anyone how good natured Sleekwing was, and she did not perhaps realize that even the most friendly of father's might not look kindly upon their daughter cozied up with a young male alone in a den.

Satisfied with her cleaning of his wounds, she looked them over once more before meeting Baird's gaze and asking about his head. His pupils were the same size, which was good, and not overly dilated given the lighting in the den. Still, the way his focus began to swim and his head dipped uncontrollably worried her. He needed to rest. Suddenly he overcorrect, pulling himself away from her and she automatically reached out to support him. Placing her head beneath his chin before it could bounce off the floor or a wall of the den, she carefully guided it him towards her own paws. "Its okay, Baird. You need to rest." If he rested his head on her paws it would keep him close enough that she could continue to treat his wounds, without blocking his own limb that she needed to take a closer look at still.

Leaning to the side, she pulled at the elk's stomach with her teeth and nosed through its contents once more. She had been considering options for pain management - he would have a terrible headache in due course if she didn't give him something now. Poppy would be too strong, as would henna, so she opted for the less strong feverfew - it would palliate the pain but still allow her to monitor how his head injury was affecting him. "Here, eat this, then you can sleep for a little while." She offered him a small dosage of the leaves and kept a watchful eye over her patient. She would wait for him to doze off before putting some salves on his scrapes and bruises that would aid in pain relief and keep the swelling down. And she would not allow him to sleep for too long, her plan was to wake him in an hour, and if he hadn't gotten worse another two hours after that, keeping a constant vigilance over him until morning. If he didn't start to improve after some rest she may have to call upon Niviaq, but for now it was a bit of a waiting game.

ooc; we can wrap this thread up in the next reply or two here if you want to. <3
