Was Undyne right? The sent of Halcyon and Aster were here...but that does not mean that bad men will not come to find him before they do. He had made his attempt to contact her before burrowing into the tall grass and his own paws. He remain there, his body tense with his white ears pushed against his head. Somehow, through his own fear he manages to hear the reply howl in the air. It helps that the howl was loud and excited. He had not heard his sister's voice for a long while, but he knew it had to be her. For a moment he opened his mis-matched eyes, seeing the grass in front of him.
Was Aster here? Coming to him? A hope glimmered in his eyes, but his fear kept him pinned to the ground. He dare not stand and try to look over the grass. He remained hidden, his heart beating like crazy. He jumps slightly when he hears a bird suddenly bursting from the grass not too far from him. It causes him to press back into the grass and cover his eyes with his paws. Not only that, even MORE loud rustling is heard, and he could only lay low and shake, unsure of what it is that appears to be coming closer and closer to him.
And then it hit him. He yelped as Aster ran into him, seeing the world spin in circles for a moment. He frantically looks back and forth...and he perhaps peed himself a little. The small boy looks up to finally see the dark face of Aster that he had missed so much. He remained still, and much in shock at this point even after she said his name. His breath was heavy and fast, and he was like stone as she toss herself partially on him in a wolf-ish hug. His nose inhaled her scent regardless, and naturally despite his fear his tail did give the slightest wag upon the grass.
"A..A..Aster?" he says in a light voice, his eyes blinking with his effort to say her name. She was so exited and part of that did go into him. He remained shaky, but managed to give her a nervous lick.
"I...I g-g-guess?" he says warily as he hears another trailing right behind Aster. His eyes dart over to see Halcyon there now. He felt comforted with the two of them together with him here, but he was unable to stop the shaking of his rather frail body.
"Y-yes, Undyne, s-s-s-he lost an e-eye, she...she is...a l-l-ittle ways b-b-b-ack," he said, worry scattered on his face one more. He didn't like leaving her back there, but she said that he had to go forward to get them and get help.
"I...I don't k-k-know, I don't r-r-remember...m...m...much," he said with his muzzle slowly facing the ground in a bit of shame. He had been so stressed that his mind was a whirlwind. Everything in there was scattered and he couldn't seem to piece them together yet.
"A...Aster is...d-d-dad here too?" he asked, eyes hopeful as he turns to look at her, still on the ground. He didn't know why his father had not come to get him, but he knew that bad man killed Mother. What would stop him from killing Father and just never telling him about it?
