Retribution was the last thing on her mind. A life for a life would not bring her daughter back to her, instead she would be taking away a wolf that lead a pack, had a family. Tepi already was out trying to take away his children to quell him, it was far from retribution but it was Zelda’s way of teaching a lesson. What kind of lesson Zeltzin hardly cared, nothing stopped this feeling of pain and emptiness that constantly filled her chest. She was hardly one to scrutinize someone else's tactics though, especially now with her mind in a haze.
She barely notices him after she gets the words out. They were so hard to admit, to say to him. She felt herself crumble and she was helpless to do anything about it. Zeltzin just wanted to be held, to be told it would be okay, by someone. Of course her father would be the first who would do such a thing, but he understood, she knew he did, there was more she wanted and needed to recover from this, and she wasn’t sure if she could get that here or anywhere any time soon. Her ears were pressed against her head and she sobbed until she couldn’t breath, she long since ran out of tears to shed over this. Silence fell over her, but her body ached and felt numb at the same time. She didn’t move even as he spoke again.
She hears his cold words, knows what he wants to do and her red-brown and gold eyes go to his stark copper. He wants to kill him? She wondered as such, wondered if that would be his first thought, but that wasn’t want Zeltzin wanted. ‘Our’ retribution he called it. ”No… that.. that won’t bring her back. I-I don’t want that.” she says meekly, though she isn’t even sure if he could hear her or if he would understand her reasoning. She felt helpless still, but she wouldn’t stop Eden if that was what he wanted. ”Would it… make you feel better to do that?” She asked quietly. For her she knew it would only bring more pain… but if Eden needed it, if he felt better then she guessed it was not okay… but better. He didn’t shed a tear or cry for their daughter, but she knew everyone handled loss differently, Eden’s way apparently was hate and rage, Zeltzin’s was incredible loss and sorrow. She knew soon she needed to go back to Asriel and Shem, they still needed her and she wasn’t sure what she would face with either of them when she got back.
It was then that Eden shuffled closer, offering her protection, even offering his rare touch. Thank you, Eden.” She slowly sat up, pressing her slightly trembling form into his own. ”I need to go back to the boys. I left them with my father, they are probably confused and upset. They need me, us, if you want to go too.” That was what she wanted to do, but she might have missed his other meaning behind his words. She just knew her babies still needed her, even if she was broken they needed to see it was okay to be sad, or angry, or however it was they felt. She couldn’t teach them what was the right or wrong way to grieve, but she needed to be there to help them understand it.
