The winds blowing in from over the sea had turned frigid once more, it was only the second time in her life this had happened but she enjoyed it no more this year than the last. It killed the grasses and drove her toys into hiding making it an all-round rather terrible time of year I her opinion. Still there were a few playthings left to find if you knew where to look as she did. And so, she moved along the beach, her small paws scraping silently through the brittle sea-grass as she crept up to where the gulls congregated. She had only caught one a pawful of times, but she was gaining consistency with every attempt and she knew that today she would succeed once more.
Nearing the rocks where the birds nested she lowered her slim body to the ground, youth exegeting her lanky physique with legs that looked a bit too long and a slender torso with only a hint at the athleticism she would yet possess. A few gulls rested just over the edge of the dune and she crept toward them, readying to pounce when the sound of approach caused her ear to twitch. She wasn’t the only one to hear it either, as the gulls attention shifted her way and they took flight instantly out over the tumultuous waters. Her long tail twitched in aggravation, dark ears lowering toward her skull as she turned to see the boy approaching. A low growl rumbled in her throat expressing her displeasure that he had interrupted her plans, her slender head lowering slightly in trepidation even as her tail raised as a gray sail behind her.
She fixed him with her blue-violet gaze and listed to his words silently, wondering who he was to say she was hiding and how exactly he knew her brother. Enoch had not mentioned him, not that Escha had ever asked. “What do you know of fear? No one keeps me away.” The words are short and to the point, having a mute mother had done little more than teach the girl that words were often superfluous and anyone who trailed on and on with them was making up for something else. The cold sun shone colder still off of the gray white of her coat as she waited ever silent for his reply.
