Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Masque

Not a whole lot tended to trouble Masque. Her spirit was as free and wild as the earth and air around her. An imagination that leapt to far off worlds and chased fantastic creatures was hard to pin down to the ground when it so easily took flight on wings of myth. She was, however, grounded in this moment. Conversations had led her to believe, almost to know, she had come to experience another kind of magic. With every passing moon she became more aware that she was fairly sure she had Imprinted. The feeling was not as strong as some whispers had made it out to be. She supposed the way Teza had explained it had been best. It was different for everyone. Deep in her heart, she longed to know what it had been for that boy; the black masked dancer she had met. All she knew was that he stook out to her. When her mind wandered, it wandered back to him. When her chases and adventures had closed for the day she pondered what he was doing. It was strange to have just one thing continuing to come back to her mind. That day she had been called away by her mother. It seemed as though her thoughts were called away by him. Ruffling her coat as she moved she once again stepped from the shelter of the Taviorian forests. Lilac eyes looked back and she sighed heavily.

Over the course of the last season her trips out of the packland had become increasingly more frequent. Her restlessness made her paws itch and she longed to know that her mother felt it too. Every day Masque would return with tales of her newest adventure and she would see the longing in Taika’s chocolate eyes. One day, Masque was sure, Taika would pick them up and they would return to the wilds. Together they would begin again their wandering ways! The gypsy and her child would return to the world they knew best. She could feel it. It was so close to her paws she even let out a whine as she moved.

Today was a little different though. This was a day she did not chase fantasies. Instead she walked along the trails, for the first time trying to commit them to memory. These were the paths she had run as a warrior, was a fairy ride, a guardian of the unseen! She had no time at the time to remember where she was going. As she was starting to grow she knew that the truly help those she served she needed to know where she was, even if she did not always know where she was going. Grinning to herself, she picked up her pace to saunter through the trees until she came to those along the river side. The water spirits had always been her favorites. They were the most playful. Even in the cool of the autumn, the colder water’s bite was refreshing when she stepped into it. Lifting her gaze from the beautiful dances of the reflective surfaces she glanced around. Somewhere around here was a path to a waterfall. If memory served her correctly, it was one of the most beautiful waterfalls she could remember. A cascade of glory and mist with a moss embedded cavern behind the protective streams. That was the place she was determined to find again and be able to refind for the rest of her life.
