aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The femme was still in shock to have heard Kalgalath’s words. If she had not heard the words for herself she would not have believed it. Chenzii would have thought that Kal would have died in this pack rather than leave it, but it was clear now that she was wrong. She tried to understand what her friend was going through. He had to choose between loyalties to his families pack, where he had been born and raised and where he had come from, or to stay in the pack that he had built up. She couldn’t imagine how hard it was to make that decision, but he had been forced into it. He just chose the option opposite of what Chenzii would have guessed. She couldn’t meet his gaze, couldn’t look at him. She thought after all the two had been through, how close they had become, that he would have told her before this moment. She knew it was silly, he had no obligation to her in that way, but somehow she still felt betrayed. Even though her best friend was leaving, she could not imagine life anywhere but in Aurora. So she knew that she had to stay, even though it would mean losing one more friend. Really her last friend.

The female’s audette’s perked up when she heard another speaking. It sounded as though Hellene would be leaving as well, even though her daughter was here. Today was just full of surprises it seemed. The look of shock and disbelief on Khaleesi’s features showed that she too had no idea her mother would leave her. What happened next was the biggest shock of all though. Jorah, who was still next to her, mumbled something out loud before he sprang into action. Chenzii knew that Kal had not ever grown to trust, or really even like, Jorah, and she had gotten off to a bad start with him as well, but she never thought he was going to do what he was about to do. The newer member of Aurora attacked the alpha, ex-alpha now, and Chenzii seemed to be paralyzed in place. Everything happened so fast and she couldn’t process anything quick enough to move. Luckily someone else was watching and able to react though. A streak of white flew across her vision, Aindreas intercepting the attack that would have landed on his father. Aindreas and Jorah fought ferociously, but it ended quickly, luckily in the favor of Aindreas. The final words of Jorah sent a chill through Chenzii. She didn’t know what they meant but it didn’t seem to bode well.

Instinctively, in the time of danger and crisis, Chenzii’s yellow orbs turned to look for Kalgalath’s blue ones. Her gaze was directed towards another set of blue orbs though when Aindreas began to speak. She would have to get used to looking to someone new for instruction, but she would adjust to the change. It was Kalgalath’s own kin anyways. “If anything this has shown that we must be more diligent in who we allow into the pack, and his final words shows anything, Aurora Borealis must come together and be the strong pack it is known to be. And so from here on out, everyone is Omega. You must prove your worth and your loyalty to the pack. It is to ensure that no one who has a rank slacks in the pack, and that no one who is worthy is not given a rank merely because they are already full. I will remain here to answer any questions you may have.” It was a bit of a shock to be told she would no longer be the beta, but it made sense. There was a new alpha so that meant time to start over. Others could step up and help the pack grow. But Chenzii would never step down and do less work for this pack, even if she was an Omega now. Finally she was able to get into action and move. Her paws carried her to Aindreas, gratitude on her features for what the new alpha had already done for this pack. Her darker pelt brushed against his lighter one, showing the same respect for him that she would have had it been Kalgalath standing her. She then backed away, bowing to her new alpha before she sat back down.
