Guest speaker: Emily Rondel, Naturalist, Educator and Public Speaker
Topic: "A golden Opportunist?: the Golden-winged Warbler in Ontario"
The Golden-winged Warbler is a low-profile yet stunning songbird that is designated at risk
both Federally and Provincially.
For the past 5 years, Emily Rondel has led investigations for Birds Studies Canada into the species' status
in Ontario, yet the more she learned, the more questions she had.
The history of this species in Ontario is not straightforward: huge range changes, inter-species hybridization,
and complex habitat needs all bring up larger questions about how the conservation process works
and what it is actually for.
