Winter had come with a passion, bringing with it the happiest moments Nakato could recall in recent memory. The only thing that topped it was the birth of her daughters. Jakuta and Athena were grown and ready to face the world on their own, both already leaving to live their own lives. It had made their mother sad, and with the loss of her home, she would have been devistated had it not been for her ever faithful Ajani. Just thinking about him filled her heart with warmth and joy. The night they shared together, the passion and love that took them, it was magical. And now, she was carrying his pups within her womb.

Before she could feel the tiny bodies dancing around her belly, she had known. Only a mother could know when they were sharing an existance with another. Nakato had yet to tell her beloved mate that he was going to be a father. Waiting for the right time, she wanted to make sure it was perfect. Of course, the longer she waited, the harder it would be to conceal her ever growing stomach. Luckily, for the time being, she could blame it on the rich meals Ajani brought for her. He had been taking care of her without end since the fall of Iromar. Nakato had taken the news of the Monster's death roughly and it was only the by the grace of her mate that she wasn't a complete mess. She wanted to repay that kindness and today was the day.

Having made their new home in a large cave in the Grotto lands, the two lone wolves often spent the cold days curled up in the warmth of the den. Today, Ajani had gone hunting, leaving Nakato by herself. It was the perfect chance! Gathering pine needles, sticks, and other nesting materials, the bobtailed wolfess got to work quickly. Within the den was a large nest for the two adults to sleep on. Not knowing how many cubs lay within her, she simply made two smaller bramble piles right next to the larger one. Happy with the fruit of her labor, she trotted back outside and sat in the snow, waiting for her mate to return. There was no sense hiding the smile on her face or the joy in her electric blue eyes. Tody was going to be a wonderful day!
