. CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site
There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities.
This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only.
We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund.
Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

EVENSONG AT ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL – SUNDAY 14 MAY 2017
RHQ has been given a number of tickets to Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral on Sunday 14 May. The Regiment made a donation to ‘The Great Silence Appeal’ – an appeal to commemorate former choristers of St Paul’s Cathedral who lost their lives in WW1. Please see details below.

Details: Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral on Sunday 14th May (during which The Great Silence anthem will be sung). The service will start at 3.15 pm and the congregation is asked to be seated by 3.00pm.
The service is being dedicated to former choristers (including 2 x Royal Fusiliers and 1 x Lancashire Fusilier) from the Cathedral who were killed in the First World War with particular reference to Captain John Pritchard, Honourable Artillery Company, who was killed on 15th May 1917 - exactly 100 years less a day before. During the service his great niece, Janet Shell, will read an extract of a letter he wrote to his mother from France and there will be a small display of items and military accoutrements which belonged to him. The family of another chorister, Lieutenant Brian Calkin, Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment, will also be present and his great nephew, Paul Calkin, will read from one of his letters from the Western Front. Acclaimed author, Juliet Nicolson, will read a lesson; it was the title of her book ‘The Great Silence’ which gave rise to the anthem’s title. The Right Reverend David Conner KCVO, The Dean of Windsor and former Bishop to the Forces, will preach; it was he who suggested Ivor Gurney’s poem ‘Song and Pain’ to the composer as the text for the anthem.
To reflect the commemorative purpose of Evensong, the bells of the Cathedral will ring a quarter muffled peel for an hour before the service; this, in itself, will be an unusual event.
