Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

He could sense other wolves closing in on them but he was too caught up in what he was doing, only paying attention to Tuari next to him. He smelled other wolves jumping in one by one and could feel the force of the pack behind him. That's all that really mattered. They were coming together and working as a pack to down this beast, but he knew it wasn't about to go down easily. There were wolves jumping at the legs, the back end, and even one jumping for the bear's shoulders. He saw another wolf body around the side of the neck area by where he was but they were all pretty much scattered so at least no one was getting in each other's way. The bear was only going to get more pissed though. He saw a flash of blood on the bear's nose as he went under for the throat, feeling a small twinge of victory for Tuari that she had drawn blood on the beast. He felt the weight roll back and knew what was coming. The beat was about to rear up. They would have to change up their fighting style.

He gave up on his biting rage, dancing back and away from the bear's flailing paws as it went upward. He wasn't about to get dragged into the bear's mouth just because he was trying to draw some blood. He knew he wouldn't get so lucky as to grab the bear by the throat on the first try, anyway. They would have to weaken him a little bit first. Then he noticed the bear start to lean backwards and he thought of the wolves around the back end. His eyes widened and he barked.

"It's falling back! Get out of the way!"

He knew enough that the bear's weight could squash anything that lands under it. That was no way for someone to get hurt or worse. He could feel the warm trickling of blood going down his back leg but he tried to ignore it. For now, the adrenaline was enough to keep the pain at bay so he would keep using that until this fight was over. After all, the blood would start clotting and drying soon enough anyway. It was already getting dirt and dust in it from all the wolves moving around so he wasn't worried about losing too much blood. He saw the bear flop back and then swing its paw out at other wolves. He barked out warnings as he saw fit, wanting everyone to know someone was watching their backs so they knew where to dodge when they couldn't see it coming. He wanted as few injuries as possible.

Now that the bear had fallen back though, it was vulnerable in a way. They just had to keep working together. At least he saw the brothers known as the Empathy of Taviora moving away as they should have when the bear started to topple back. They were quick to movement and seemed to communicate without talking. He noted the one wolf stumble right before getting thrown and then he called out a name before rushing off into the forest. The other wolves seemed to know why he left but they weren't rushing off too so that was good at least. Must have been something to do with his imprint or something else important. Dexter was sure he wouldn't just leave his pack members in harm's way without a good reason. He tried to focus again on the bear in front of them. The remaining brothers rushed in, attacking paws and muzzle of the bear. When he saw Tuari suddenly jerk back, only then did his attention from the bear waver, gasping as he smelled her blood. He rushed to her.

"You okay? Let me see."

His eyes softened in concern as he saw the shallow slashes on her cheek. He touched his nose to them, giving them a quick lick but knowing they needed to get back in the attack. They couldn't leave the others to finish this. She touched his shoulder and he felt relieved to know she was fine. Then she was rushing at the bear, going behind it to bite at the back of the bear's neck. He knew he needed to do something too so while she was trying to anchor the bear, he decided to be risky. The bear was on its back still so he went for the tender stomach, aiming to leap up and then bite and tear into whatever tender flesh of the stomach he could get. He would watch the paws in case it tried to rake at him but hoping the other wolves would keep those things busy so he could get some good hits in. He kept himself moving, dancing around as he bit down and shook his head vigorously, , even using his dull claws to dig at the bear's underbelly as if he could dig to China.

He would try to find a place where there was thinner flesh, anything he could rip through. He had a thin hope that he could reach the bear's insides this way but he wasn't going to get his hopes up. His heart was hammering a tattoo in his chest, knowing he was easy for the bear to grab and bite if it got its head up but he was trusting the others to keep it distracted while he did what he could to get some damage in on the beast. They needed to get all the blood shed they could while it was down cause that wouldn't last long.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
