He is not a liar, but how does he convince her of this? She didn't seem to be of the soundest mind at that moment, her emotions were running high and her son was missing, she was having a rough day, clearly. But how did he get dragged along into this? And why, oh why, did he have to feel obligated to help her? The guilt would just destroy him if he did not go with her, after watching her cower and wail, he would never let himself forget it. "Okay, okay I'm coming!" He calls in response, just wanting her to stop yelling. The shouting gave him anxiety.
She moves faster than him, and he has to sprint to catch up to her after disentangling himself from his pile of leaves. He pauses to look back at it wistfully, before jumping as she screams for him to hurry up and turning to follow her. What had he gotten himself into, and was it really... safe for him to be following her? What if she was just leading him back to her cave to attack him? He doesn't really know why another wolf would do a thing, which is the sole thing keeping his mind at rest, but it nags at his brain.
As they run, there is no one scent he can close in on. There were hundreds of wolves that traversed these woodlands, and it isn't like he was the best sniffer. "Miss? Miss!" He tries to call, tries to command her attention. It wasn't like him to be any sort of dominant, but he happened to be the sane one in this situation, oddly. "What is your sons name? When did you see him last?" He asks, stumbling over his words as he pants heavily, head low and tail tucked.
