Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
I am just a displaced princess;
IP: 67.173.212.175

He watches her, his piercing brilliant green eyes illuminated by the dreary grays, browns, and whites of the landscape. It is honestly nerve wracking. She has never been the center of attention before, never been the core focus of a conversation or the reason another's eyes light up in the manner that Dexter's eyes do now. In her homelands, she had been a mere face among the crowd, a ghost in the mists, merely a being to aid the others in guarding, hunting and tracking. She had never wanted anything more, and never been offered it either. Yet here, here she was welcomed. Never did she expect in her wildest dreams to be worthy enough to gain an all but private audience with the queen of the forests. Never did she imagine that she would find such a sense of completeness and relief as the moment she followed the hansom dragga over the borders. It was as if the gods had preplanned for this moment, she had simply known.

A look of confusion crosses is features now as she eyes the bundle of herbs Zelda carried off with her but he does not mention it. Instead he continues on, his broad frame moving with an ease and agility that rivals few. His family had called these lands home for many years and so truthfully it is no surprise. She only hopes that one day she can know like he, what lays beyond a single woodland hillside, or just around the river's bend. No doubt, in time it would come to her, in time, she would be able to move with him, but for now she settles with once more following in his paw prints. His deep baritone voice rings out now as he offers her a teasing wink. Despite herself she cannot help but to smile. It is a soft smile, a smile that so far, she had reserved for him alone... a smile that belied the affection and tenderness she felt deep within as it slowly began to turn more. Once again, she is grateful that the gods had not cursed her with fair skin for surely the color would have deepened to a crimson hue under the embarrassment. Yet despite that, she cannot help but to usher a soft toned giggle, her brilliant silver blue eyes dancing as that coy smile tugs her black lips upward. "Somehow I don't think the rabbit was the problem, you were the one suggesting the hunt after all."

Almost immediately she stops, she had forgotten the rabbit! The precious gift Dexter gave to her. The spoils of a successful hunt. She grimaced now as the look of regret crosses her features. "In all this excitement I left the rabbit back there!" she groaned, turning her gaze back down the path marked by the deep paw prints left in the thick snowdrifts. A single dial flickers now as she shakes her head and pounces towards him, "Ill just have to hope the other creatures that call the forests home leave it alone. I will go back and get it later." she announces with a rather matter of fact resolve to her words. She was not about to let such a treasure disappear.

He continues down the winding ridges and rolling tree covered hills that made up Taviora with an almost puppy like excitement to his steps. He barks at her, his words taunting and playful pawing at her. She smirks deviously, her own silver white plume waving proudly over her back as she raises her head dominantly, her silver blue eyes glittering. "Oh we cant have that now can we?" she teases, her lilting tenor dripping with seduction. "I don't think your ego could get much bigger" she murmurs, reaching forward to lick his cheek before racing ahead of him with a laugh, pausing a few paces ahead to let him catch up and once again guide her towards their destination, all the while taking in all the majestic sights and sounds that made up Taviora.

She ignores his graceless dib and instead offers him a teasing smile, she would show him. But for now, she was more interested in learning more about Taviora and exploring the beautiful conifer forest that surrounded them. The scent of pine, cedar and fir overwhelmed them now, the lingering odor clinging to her skin and giving her an overwhelming sense of excitement. He guides her down a final hillside to a large open area where snow settled over the open expanse in deep furrows. For a moment she is confused. She turns to let her gaze settle upon him for a moment now as he begins to speak and as his words ring out, she lets her gaze travel over the snow laden field, its plainness transforming beneath the power of his deep baritones. As he speaks, she can almost see the flowers as they spring up from beneath the thick blanket of snow. An array of colors overshadow the dull gloom of grays and whites now, yellow paintbrushes and orange buttercups spring forth amid the brilliant lavender mountain irises and Colorado columbine. Here and there, bright pink fairyslipper and primrose dot the hidden cove, drawing the dreary world into a beautiful paradise of rainbow colors. She inhales a sharp breathe in awe and wonder as she takes an almost tentative step forward, afraid that if even one foot was placed wrong, the scene before her would disappear. "It is beautiful." she murmurs, exhaling a soft breathe and watching as like a ghostly wraith, the exchange of breathe evaporates before them, returning the illusion of the paradise back to its current dormant state. She leans into him now, comfortable in the touch of his fur against her own, somehow soothing her very soul into knowing that this was indeed real. A tender smile curves across her lips now as she reaches her ash dusted maw towards his, pressing a single affectionate nuzzle against his own whiskered maw before she draws back again and speaks. "Thank you Dexter..." she starts, pausing a moment to let her words linger between them. "Thank you for everything... for showing me this... it is beautiful." she whispers, afraid that even the slightest rise in her voice might change the moment, alter it in some fashion and that it would never be a moment that they could get back.

"I believe I would have loved to meet your mother. She and I seem to have much in common." she continues, pausing for a moment to settle her lithe frame onto the snow covered earth, her forelimbs stretching out before her as the silver white brush of her tail curls tightly against her side. She angles her head to glance up at him now, a single raven-tipped dial flickering as she glances up at him. "Tell me more about her, Dexter." she offers, a timid smile washing across her features now as she continues, "I was never very close with my family... my parents were always too busy teaching or hunting to spend much time with me and my siblings. I guess that is why I never really felt like I fit in there... its what made decide to leave." she continues, dropping her gaze to her paws now. Thinking about it now, her words made it sound more like she abandoned her pack, like she was some spoiled little princess who abandoned her responsibilities just because things were not going her way. "I'm glad I met you though... I am glad you showed me your world here... your family." she muses, turning her eyes back to him again, adoration dancing in her vision.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
