In his book, Spoonplugging, Buck Perry sets out the following guidelines for line length for his lures that run at specific depths. This should hold true for any lure that runs at these depths.
Lure Running Depth
2-4 feet Run 10-40 yards
4-6 feet Run 10-40 yards
6-9 feet Run 10-40 yards
9-12 feet Run 30-80 yards
12-15 feet Run 30-80 yards
This may be different than others practice at Indian Lake, though.
He also says that in trolling we should only let out as much line as we can control.
It should be possible to Short Line deeper running lures at Indian Lake.
