Crab vs. Laca Jai-alai Beer 6-pack challenge

This past weekend, "The Crab", aka Dave Sellers, challenged Laca to a best of 3 championship singles match for a 6 pack of Jai-alai Beer. Why he picked Laca, I don't know - perhaps he was his Jerry Quarry of 1970, I guess.

Several players were tipped off about the match, some even making bets on the outcome. One betting line had the Crab as 3 to 1 favorites. The event was on Facebook, filmed by the Crab's girlfriend with several viewers watching the results including ex-pro and amateur players.

The Crab was a formal national amateur champion in the mid 1990s, while the aging Laca's fame was playing at the Seminole Middle School with a lacrosse ball and no back wall while possessing great catching skills and a strong reverse.

Game 1

Laca 15 Crab 9

A rusty, hungover and admittedly out of shape Crab played brilliant at times, making several fall down robate caroms. But multiple unforced errors doomed him. He took 7 long breaks in the middle of the match, making a normal 8- 10 minute game last nearly an hour.

Game 2

Crab 15 Laca 14

Laca blew a 13-9 lead as the Crab cut down on his forced errors while icing Laca with 8 breaks during the game during another one hour game.

Game 3

Crab bailed out. No game 3 that day. He nearly fainted and vomited during the last game.

Final Results

Game 3 will be held next Sunday.

Questions - should Crab be allowed all these timeouts in the middle of the game? Lets' hear your feedback!

Crab reported amazing feedback from the videos on Facebook - with at least one ex-pro wanting to come back and play, along with a couple amateurs. We shall see............
