There is an active heronary in the area with 15 nests all occupied by Great Blue Herons. The birds seemed uncomfortable a few weeks ago at my presence when I was taking photos from a great distance. Anyone who does visit to view the Snowy Egret, we do have a few more than just two records for Simcoe over the years, should stay a good distance from the nesting herons.
