He watches her, watches as she watches him and oh how he enjoyed it. The sensation was so odd and yet felt natural... as though it was a part of who he was... a part that he had never known before. She digs her feet deeper into the melting snow now, her thick tawny colored tail curling across her paws as if to hide the activity from his view. She seemed uncomfortable in the snow, and from what she spoke of her homeland, he doubted she saw much of it in her lifetime. However he, on the other hand, had seem much too much of it. Where he was from, darkness and snow made up ninety percent of the lands... there was only a few short months in which the sun graced the horizon and the snows receded enough to allow green grasses to grow in abundance. She shifts before him, almost as though like himself, she struggled with an internal battle that lay hidden deep behind her fierce ruby red eyes. His soul lurched, as though her discomfort urged him to make a move but his heart feared it. Feared making her turn from him, feared making her rebuke him and run as she had from her home, from her destiny as seen by her family.

She shakes her head and speaks, he winces. Perhaps he had hit a nerve by saying she balked from the decision made by the gods of fate. He should not have said it. His soul seethed in anger at him and he flinches, hiding it behind a quick shake of skin. "Forgive me I did not mean to offend you." he barks, letting his thick black plume wave back and forth in slow motion as though it was the white flag of truce. He smiles, the wolfish grin curling across his black lips as he continues. "I suppose it is to mean whatever you want it to mean." he murmurs, cocking his proud head towards her now.

She apologizes and his yellow gold eyes soften. Instinctively he takes a step towards her, touching the tip of her nose with his own, "There is no need to apologize to me Leilani... It is I who am at your command." he teases, withdrawing long enough to move to her side, his dark coat brushing ever so slightly against her own, a comforting shoulder, her guardian if need be. He turns his eyes from her now, casting a watchful gaze over those gathered nearby, still lost deep in their own conversations, oblivious to the contrasting pair. "That I don't think I can truly answer you my dear." he breathes, letting his words hang between them for a moment before he continued again. "It is like the very sight of you awoke something within me, something I never even knew lay dormant." he breathed, feeling a sense of relief wash over him as he confessed himself to her. Regardless of how reserved and closed he tried to keep himself with others, there was something about her, something about the bond that made him pour out the very thoughts and words of his soul. "I simply want you to be happy." he continues, his voice softening now, a barely audible whisper as he turns to fix her fiery red gaze with his own golden yellow. "Whatever you need me to be... friend, brother, protector, guardian, confidant... lover..." he says letting the last word stutter from his lips, "I will be it.... for you." he finishes, his eyes searching her own, somehow needing her acceptance and praying to whatever gods were watching from above that she would not reject him.
