Had she been so...playful and, well, unwordly as a child? She could barely remember. She mostly remembered clambering around by the water's edge with her mouth stuffed full of eggs and mischief. Then again, the past was tinted with hues of rose.
The kid was cute though, even she had to admit that. She couldn't help but smile - an actual honest smile - as the girl spoke to the water. If d'Mani ever had a child, she'd want it to be that innocent, she thought for a moment as she watched in silence, suppressing the slightest giggle that threatened to slip by her lips. She had to remember - she was still intruding. She had to keep her ears and eyes ready even if she wanted to dote and give in to that goodness.
"Your parents are right," she nodded sternly with a glance to the ocean but then, she grinned, "But not always! Sea is often nice but she likes to be treated kindly." She grinned at the sea then, as if it were looking back at them, and then she looked to the sky. "But she lets you know when she has had enough. When the sky is grey or it is night, she doesn't like to play." d'Mani had seen what happened when the sea came to the land and swallowed up trees and wolves alike. She had seen it and for a moment, her stomach sunk with a grimace across her lips but then, why should she remember it? She couldn't just dwell on the past, right? Right now, she had a chance to make sure this girl never had to see that.
Of course, the child had her own ideas and was off in a heartbeat with barely enough time left for d'Mani to grab at her or yell. Instead, she rushed in and paid the price with little more than a sigh in response from d'Mani as she dragged herself back up the shore. She tittered beneath her breath as the girl clambered to her side. In a, perhaps, rare act of compassion, she sunk down into a crouch (with a slight grunt as her elbow groaned in response to her suddeness) and offered her fur as warmth. "You were careless," she shrugged, "you shouldn't rush into anything like that, especially not something as big and strong as Sea." She raised a brow and pursed her lips in silent discipline. "You were careless,""Would you like to know how to make friends with Sea? I've known her for a long time. I'm sure she will forgive you."
