Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

OOC: I don't mind at all! I went ahead and played it out like she'd already told him about being pregnant since the post says she's bloated and all, lol.

Dexter
male.10 years old.35in, 145#.born to MothxCoszcotl.sibling to Amoxtli&Zeltzin.

unable to bind.mated to none.father to Eztli, Lixue, Petra, Citlalli, & Itzel.Taviora

The winter had been a cold one but his thick coat had kept him mostly sheltered from it. He had loved to watch Talien play in the snow. She blended in so well and it was pure magic to watch her. His feelings for her had only grown which only made it more painful since he stilled cared about Tuari too. This whole emotions thing was way overrated because he knew that if he choose, someone would get hurt and if he didn't choose, they both would get hurt. His chest tightened at the thought of either of them crying. He knew his friendship with Tuari was promised and though she would be hurt if he didn't choose her, he worried that their friendship would never be what it once was because of her feelings for him. Yet his friendship with Talien had been short lived. He had flirted with her from day one and knew that she was a rare beauty. She had come here with him and decided to join his pack without even bothering to go see the other ones, almost as if she had chosen her fate from the beginning. He knew that she was important to him, so important that winter had taken over them as well and he had mated with her as he had with Tuari. He knew that he had responsibilites and that he would live up to them. He would be there for all his children but how would they react when they found out that he'd mated with both of them? Would they both hate him? He deserved no less.

When he had told her about the unborn pups in her stomach, his heart had only swelled more and though he was still terrified at the thought of being a father because he feared failure, he knew that he would try every day to be half the father his own was. Coza was a true role model and he would probably go to him for advice a lot. But Talien deserved no less than Tuari. He would have to spend his time between the two and hope that tension doesn't reach an all time high. He was excited but he was also dreading them finding out. He felt like a traitor but he didn't know which one he had betrayed more. He cared about both of them and he feared hurting either one. Talien looked so happy, so blissful over the news that she was carrying his pups. It helped ease his fears a little and he enjoyed the time he spent with her. She reminded him so much of his mother. She was kind and smart and she acted as if she was a natural at this whole mothering thing, just like his own mom. He knew that she had an imprint but she didn't seem to connect with him as much as some of the other imprints he had heard of. Maybe they had rejected each other? Maybe her imprint was fighting fate? Either way, he didn't mind that Talien was staying in Taviora and he didn't regret what they did.

He ofte put his paw on her stomach just as he had done that first time with Tuari. He was mesmerized by the movement of the unborn pups within. He couldn't get enough of it. He could stay with her for hours and just watch them move. With spring coming, he had been hard at work looking up herbs for both his soon to be mothers and children. He had never had an interest in finding herbs that help before, too caught up in ones that would paralyze or hurt his prey but he wanted to be prepared. And so he had been pulling up shoots and collecting seeds and digging up roots. He gathered everything and even asked Zelda about some of them so he wouldn't be completely ignorant. Talien had mentioned before that she wanted to find a bigger den s he was trying to help her but he wasn't very good at it. He had pointed out a few but there was always something she didn't like about it. It either wasn't big enough or it didn't have the best view. In the end, he'd all but given up on helping but he still wanted to. He had offered to help her dig the den she currently had even deeper to make it into the den of her dreams but she only seemed worried about it. Cave-ins were brought up and other disasters and in the end, he'd mostly scrapped the idea, stepping back to let her decide on what she wanted.

When he came looking for her on this day, he was surprised to find she wasn't in her current den day dreaming of her perfect family den. He was very good at tracking though so he used that skill to follow her scent. It didn't take him long to find the stream and he quenched his thirst before he continued searching. He knew she wasn't far. Her scent was rather strong here. Then he saw the tree and squinted his eyes, seeing movement at the roots of it. He moved in closer, stalking as he crouched low to the ground. When he was sure that it was her, he cleanred his throat, not wanting to scare her too much. She looked rather content lying in this den so maybe he was in luck. He walked up to her and stood before her, tilting his head in amusement as he gave her that charming smirk, his eyes twinkling.

"So does this mean I don't have to sharpen up my digging skills?"

She looked rather tired so he wouldn't tease her too much. He moved into the den, nudging her with his nose softly as he settled down beside her, close enough for their furs to mesh as he sighed in contentment and laid his head down beside hers. She looked half asleep and probably had been sleeping when he came so he was content to let her sleep again if that's what she wanted. He knew it couldn't be easy dragging around all that extra weight. He glanced over at her out of the corner of his eye.

"I have some herbs for you when you're ready. It'll take some of the ache out of your legs and feet, or so I'm told."

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
